  3. Tilak was one of the first and strongest advocates of Swaraj and a strong radical in Indian consciousness.


  4. He formed a close alliance with many Indian National Congress leaders including Bipin Chandra Pal, Lala Lajpat Rai, Aurobindo Ghosh, Chidambaram Pillai, and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. (


  5. He organised the Deccan Education Society in 1884 with a few of his college friends. Their goal was to improve the quality of education for India's youth MISSIONS OPEN


  6. Tilak had a long political career agitating for Indian autonomy from the British rule. Before Gandhi, he was the most widely known Indian political leader


  7. Tilak joined the Indian National Congress in 1890. THE ORIGIN OF THE INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS From its foundation on 28 December 1885 until the time of independence of India on 15 August 1947, the Indian National Congress was the largest and most prominent Indian public organization


  8. During his lifetime among other political cases, Bal Gangadhar Tilak had been tried for Sedition Charges in three times by British India Government.


  9. He also helped find the All India Home Rule League in 1916-18
