National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS, BDS, BSMS, BHMS and BUMS courses offered by both government and private institutions in India. NEET is one of India’s most important medical entrance exams for UG admissions. The offline examination is conducted in 11 languages, including English and Hindi. Those who wish to apply for NEET need to register on NTA’s official website to access the application form.
NTA releases NEET admission guidelines for aspiring medical candidates. The NTA decides NEET eligibility criteria in accordance with the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956 and the Dentists Act of 1948. To appear for NEET, one must meet the criteria mentioned in the table below:

The National Medical Commission of India (NMC) prepares the syllabus for NEET for admission to MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BSMS/BUMS/BHMS courses. It makes the syllabus for NEET based on the reviews of the syllabus of NCERT, CBSE and various State Boards. The NMC recommends this syllabus to establish consistency across the nation keeping in mind the importance of different areas in medical education.

NEET syllabus consists of three main subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Mode of exam: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is an offline exam. The answers must be marked with a ballpoint pen on the specially designed machine gradable sheet.
Duration of exam: The duration of the exam is 3 hours (180 minutes).
Number of questions: There are 180 multiple choice questions from Physics (45), Chemistry (45), and Biology (90). Each question has four options and a single correct answer.
Weightage distribution: Each question carries four marks. The total weightage of the question paper is 720 marks.
Marking scheme: A student will get four marks for each correct answer and one mark will be deducted from the total score for every wrong answer. No marks will be given for unanswered questions.
Medium of question papers: Learners can opt for question papers in 11 languages – English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Learners who opt for the English language will be provided with a test booklet in English only. Those who opt for the Hindi language will be provided with a bilingual test booklet in Hindi and English. A bilingual test booklet in the chosen regional language and English will be given to those who choose a regional language.
