Many people in this world are citizens of their own countries Do they not live in this world? So, they have somethin g to attach themselv es to However, what about those who do not have the citizenship of any country?
Not all people who reside in a country are its citizens In the context of India, can you think of such people who live in India but are not the citizens of India?
The people who are being termed as ILLEGAL MIGRANTS (who migrated from Bangladesh during the 1971 war) Rohingyas
People are SMUGGLED into countries on pretext of jobs, and are then left to fend for themselves At such a time, being a Universal citizen saves their lives and dignity
Delhi Commission for Women rescues 16 girls trafficked from Nepal
So, it becomes very important to give a sense of belongingness to these people Here comes the concept of UNIVERSAL CITIZENSHIP
What does Universal Citizenship mean? Basically, the people might or might not be the citizens of a country But they are all the citizens of the world They live in this world and hence they have certain rights as human beings Organizations like the UN, World Bank, UNICEF, etc. frequently makes laws so that such people do not feel left out
Even if you are a citizen of a country, you are still a Universal citizen u can never be In such a case, being a Universal Citizen will help you survive in this world sure when the citizenship rules of a country change and you cease to be a citizen of your own country
The concept of Universal citizenship becomes especially important when we talk about the concept of ILLEGAL MIGRANTS
