When the word ILLEGAL is added to something, it automatically becomes problematic Here, we are adding this words to human beings How can human beings be ILLEGAL?
WHO ARE THESE ILLEGAL MIGRANTS? ese are the people who cross the border o their own country in a manner which is not allowed by the law So, the act of them crossing the border becomes illegal Such illegal migration is mostly not by choice It might be because of a whole other lot of reasons
PROBABLE REASONS FOR ILLEGAL MIGRATION War in the homeland (eg. Indo-pak partitition, Bangladeshi liberation war in 1971, etc.) Change of citizenship rules by the Government of a country (eg. The NRC in Assam) Natural disasters in homeland (famine, flood, drought, etc)
HOW THEY BECOME REGUGEES When the people of a country are displaced from their homeland, they have to start living in some other country There, they are given the term refugee Refugees might beGiving refuge to accepted by the country in which they are living, or someone essentially means giving them a place to live they might be rejected
If you have seen the movie SARBJIT, you can relate to what happens with a so called illegal migrant' In the case of Sarbjit, the brunt of Indo-Pak relationship was born by an individual in a frightening manner He was tortured in a way no human can take
ROHINGYAS Rohingyas in India are a big issue as of today They are people who have migrated from Myanmar to India They are an ethnic group of Muslims, who are not recognized as citizens by Myanmar Many of them are labeled as terrorists Since they did not get equal rights in their own homeland, they end up migrating to other places such as India
INDIA'S STANCE ON ILLEGAL MIGRANTS India has a very flexible policy when it comes to migrants, legal or illegal We tend to give refuge to such people at least till the time their homeland crisis is not solved This process has been going on since decades
Take it on your own self What if you were to become an illegal migrant tomorrow? And what if no country would let you live in its land?
Dignity is the foremost right of every human being, and it should be upheld by the International community
