We do talk about co- existing together But its easier said than done How can various communities co-exist in the same country?
Provisioned by the law The only way we can co-exist as multiple communities together is when the SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND mandates In India, the Indian Constitution mandates the essentiality of Pluralism
What does pluralism mean? In simple words pluralism means when people of different communities co-exist together They respect and cooperate with each other Basically, it implies 'Live and Let Live'
In India, we see that our parliament and judiciary has enacted various laws for the PROTECTION OF MINORITIES in our country
Some provisions for minorities In our Fundamental Rights, CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL rights are included This means that any minority which wants to perpetuate itself can do that However, we have seen many people misusing this provision
Ram Rahim Singh rape verdict exposes underbelly of Punjab's 'dera culture' At the root of it is the money: top deras roll in cash. Life-long jail to Asaram, 20 years each to two accomplices for raping minor
Since our country is becoming quite vigilant towards such bad examples, it is good that our society is inclusive We must protect all religious, cultural, and linguistic minorities
However, is representation enough? For some communities, mere representation is not enough They want a SEPARATE STATE Taliban in Afghanistan, Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka are some examples of demand for separate statehood
How/ to deal-with such wide ranging demands? hese issues are, no doubt, quite difficult to handle Examples of violence from across the world also clears that it cannot be solved by VIOLENCE o, the only way this can be solved is through DIALOGUE AND DISCUSSION Countries need to strengthen their diplomatic ties No country should be able to INFLUENCE our own citizens
China lists Doklam among its major diplomatic achievements US, India working 'hand in glove' to strengthen diplomatic, military relations ahead of'2+2' dialogue, says Washington
If every person in a country feels that s/he has the FREEDOM and SPACE to say whatever they want to, there will be no demands for separate states each person feels like an EQUAL CITIZEN of a country, then they will have no qualms in living in the country If

Need to clarify It must be clear that Pluralism does not imply SEPARATE STATEHOOD It is impossible to grant separate statehood to every group that asks for it So, Pluralism implies granting DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS to every cultural group, instead of separating out those groups
