Will we ever really touch the Sun?
The sun's corona is 300 times hotter than the photosphere the lowest layer of the sun's atmosphere, where solar flares belch and sunspots form.
But Parker Solar Probe known as PSP is a Nasa robotic spacecraft en route to probe the outer corona of the Sun. The project was announced in 2009. Img Source: JHU HUB
The Parker Solar Probe began a seven-year mission to examine the sun's energy, in an effort to better protect people Ken Kremer kenkremer.com SpaceUpClose.com
Parker will periodically fly through the outermost layer of the Sun's atmosphere, called the corona, where temperatures can go up as high as 3.5 million degree Fahrenheit.
