Application Of Circular Motion

There are lots of applications of circular motion that you will learn through this article. Just have patience and keep on reading this article to gain good grades in Physics.

Circular motion is found almost everywhere. You will experience circular motion in every sphere of your life. We will discuss those applications in this article in full detail. Circular motion is a very important topic of physics.

So, get ready to dive into the real-life applications of circular motion, which you have only studied theoretically. Just keep on reading this article without any break otherwise, you won’t be able to relate them with the theory.

Circular Motion

The movement of any particle in a round circular motion is known as circular motion. You must have experienced circular motion since a very small age. You must have been to a merry-go-round in any fair.

The fan which is running above your head is also a great example of circular motion that you have experienced from the very beginning. You have seen a circle. The definition of circular motion can be like this also-whenever an object completes a round of the circumference of the circle, that motion is also referred to as circular motion.

Applications of Circular Motion

  • Revolution of planets around the sun: The change of seasons on earth from summer, autumn, spring to winter is due to the revolution of the planets around the sun. All the planets revolve around the earth on fixed elliptical orbits, which are circular in nature. Attach this example with the circle. There’s a centre of the circle, which is the Sun. The circumference of the circle is the elliptical orbit on which the planets revolve in the circular path.
  • Rotation of Earth around the axis: The earth rotates on a fixed axis which is bent at an angle of 221/2 degrees. That’s the reason we experience day and night on earth. This motion is also circular in nature. Hence, the term circular motion is in terms of the rotation of the earth.
  • The Giant wheel: This is the famous ride found in fairs. You can’t deny the fact that you have not been riding this wheel. This wheel revolves around a fixed centre in a circular path, which is circular in nature. The giant wheel is just similar to the famous London eye.
  • Satellites around the planet: There are thousands of satellites which are revolving around the planets. The moon is the natural satellite of the earth that revolves around the earth, and its period of motion is 27 days. The moon revolves around the earth in a circular manner which is why it is known to be a circular motion. Other examples of satellites include artificial satellites like weather detecting satellites or the satellites used for television.
  • Stone tied on a string: When you revolve, a stone tied with a string in a circular manner is considered to be a circular motion. There’s a centripetal force attached to this motion. The centripetal motion is the force that attracts the stone tied on the string towards the centre.
  • Stirring the batter: Whenever your mom bakes a cake for you, she used to beat the batter in a circular manner to get a smooth and nice consistency.
  • Movement on a circular track: Whenever you run on a circular track in a round motion, it’s known as circular motion.
  • Merry-go-around: Children find this ride amazing in fairs. This ride revolves in a circle, and children love to move around in a circular manner.
  • Electrons around the nucleus: An atom consists of a proton, electron, and neutron. All these particles revolve around the nucleus in a circular manner.
  • Wall of death: This type of stunt is found in most fairs. In these stunts, people used to ride bikes in a circular manner in a deep well-like structure.

Conclusion

This article starts with the definition of circular motion and its several applications. Here, you will get to know about many applications of circular motion. Each application of the circular motion is discussed in full detail, which will give you a detailed understanding of the applications of circular motion.

This article is like a gemstone for you if you wish to score good marks in your exams and pass with flying colours.
