How to Kickstart the GATE Exam Preparation

Get Notified of the Exam Dates
It is essential to know the exam dates. If you subscribe to Unacademy Plus, you will get information regarding GATE and receive notifications once the official dates are declared. However, you should not wait for the dates to be declared to start your preparation. But once you do find out, you can adjust your study schedule so that you finish the syllabus on time.
Prepare for the General Aptitude Section
The General Aptitude Test is identical for all, no matter what core subject you have chosen. This is a compulsory section in the GATE exam and therefore, you need to prepare for it. You can attend Live Classes by experienced Educators and learn about the different aspects of this paper. It is important to prepare for all topics so that you do not miss out on any questions. If you answer maximum questions correctly for the General Aptitude paper, your overall score will increase.
Core Subject Preparation
The core subject is the most important part of the GATE exam. You need to prepare well and be ready for a wide range of questions. Go through the syllabus for the subject you have selected for the GATE exam. You need to decide which topics are crucial and which you already know. Prepare for the difficult or essential topics first. Unacademy Plus offers numerous classes on all core subjects. You can choose one or more classes on your subject and start attending Live Lectures to prepare.
Prepare for MCQs and NAT Questions
The GATE exam has both multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. In the core subject paper, there is no negative marking for the NAT questions. Therefore, you should answer all questions as that will improve your chances to gain a better score. Since you need to answer both types of questions, Unacademy's Mock Tests include these question patterns. This will help you prepare for all sections of the GATE exam, and also help you build a habit of answering MCQs and NAT questions.
GATE is an important examination, but that does not mean preparing for it has to be complicated. You can prepare and study for GATE without worrying too much. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you study without getting stressed, and score good marks in the examination.
Build a Strategy for the GATE Exam Preparation
When you start preparing for GATE, you need to build a proper strategy. A strategy is important because it not only allows you to complete the syllabus and revise but also helps you score high marks without too much trouble. Choosing the correct core subject is an important part of creating a strategy. Pick a subject that you understand well and wish to base your career on. You also need to prepare for other sections of the exam. Create a strategy that will enable you to approach all topics and complete them before time. You can also subscribe to Unacademy and talk to Educators before you create the best action plan for tackling all subjects.
Plan Study Sessions to Complete the Syllabus
The syllabus for the core subject in GATE can appear to be extensive and requires you to have in-depth knowledge. Therefore, you need a study plan that will allow you to complete the syllabus and leave enough time for revision. You can plan study sessions every day to do this. However, it is also important to take small breaks in between the sessions. Once you subscribe to Unacademy, you will have to attend lectures for several days and this will block a considerable period. You can take breaks before and after a class so that you have a fresh mind. While it is important to study for GATE, you should prioritise and give yourself time to relax. This will not only allow you to complete the syllabus but will also lower your stress levels.
Time Management
Time management is a crucial part of the GATE exam preparation. You need to monitor how long you are taking to answer questions and whether you need to pick up speed to complete the paper. You can check the time when you solve questions. This will ensure that you have enough time to write all answers on the day of the exam. Time management is not only limited to completing all the questions on the exam paper. You also need to manage time when studying for GATE 2022. Allot time for each subject so that you have enough time to prepare for all the topics. Manage your time well to give yourself breaks so that you are able to study with a clear mind.
Mock Tests
Mock Tests are essential for evaluating your preparation. Unacademy offers GATE Mock Tests for all aspirants who subscribe to the platform. These tests follow the same pattern as the actual exam and have questions on all important topics. You may even find questions similar to the ones on the Mock Test, when you take the exam. Mock Tests prepare you for the day of the exam and can help you see how long you are taking to complete the paper. Unacademy's Mock Tests are designed by academicians and Top Educators to reflect the questions that are likely to appear in the exam.
Go Through Question Papers from the Previous Years
You can keep taking tests to prepare for GATE. Once you have completed the Mock Tests, you can start solving the previous years' question papers. While questions are rarely repeated, there may be similarities. Solving these papers will test your memory and help you prepare better for the examination. Unacademy has several question papers that you can access once you subscribe. You can start solving the papers and evaluate your performance on your own. You can also talk to the Educators if you need help with any particular question.
Prepare Notes for Revision
It is vital to revise topics before the exam. The easiest way to do this is through notes. When you attend a Live Class at Unacademy, you can take notes. You can also do this after the class when you receive the recording. If you have comprehensive notes on all topics, you can refer to them whenever you want. These notes will help you understand concepts better and revise. You can also create short notes on different topics. These will help during last-minute revisions.
