CLASS 2 MATHS

In class 2 maths we have seen the topics of counting tens, patterns, how much you can carry, etc. These topics are covered in pictorial representation to understand them in a better way.

Table of Content
  •

Let us first understand the topic of class 2 maths in detail. We will talk about the topics like what is long, what is round, counting in groups, counting in tens, patterns, footprints, jugs and mugs, tens and ones, etc.

What is long, what is Round?

This topic covers the pictorial representation of the round objects.

How much can you carry?

This topic covers what is lighter and heavier. It has explained to you how to understand if the object is heavy or light with the pictorial representation.

Counting in Tens

This topic talks about the ways to count objects. This topic has been explained with pictures to make the reader understand how to count the objects.

Patterns

In this chapter, we have seen that different patterns are used in real life. We have tried understanding the patterns by pictorial description to understand them better.

Footprints

This topic discusses the different types of footprint and understanding it with the activity. It helps the students to understand the topic in a better way.

Jugs and Mugs

This topic is related to the filling of jugs and mugs with water or any other liquid. This topic has activities to make the student understand how to carry out the activity practically and understand the outcome of the chapter.

CHAPTER 2 CLASS 7 MATHS NOTES

Chapter 2 of class 7 maths contains the topic of fractions and decimals. The study of fractions includes proper, improper, and mixed fractions. It even includes the addition and subtraction of the fractions. The topic of decimals includes the representation of decimals on a number line, and the addition and the subtraction of decimal numbers.

A proper fraction is a fraction that represents the part of the whole number. The improper fraction is the combination of a whole and a proper fraction.

Let us understand the multiplication of fractions.

Suppose you have to multiply a fraction with a whole number. In this case, let us understand this with an example. Consider a circle divided into four equal parts. Each part will be one-fourth part of the circle. To count on the two parts of the whole circle, it will be represented by 14+14=2×14.

To multiply a whole number with a proper or an improper fraction, we have to multiply the whole number with the numerator of the fraction, keeping the denominator the same. To multiply the mixed fraction to a whole number, first, convert the mixed fraction to an improper fraction and multiply.

Multiplication of fraction by a fraction-

When two different fractions are multiplied together then, the product of numerators from both fractions is done and written in the numerator of the resultant fraction. When you multiply the denominators of both the fractions, then the results will be the denominator of the resultant fraction.

When two improper fractions are multiplied, the product is less than each fraction. In other words, the value of the product of two proper fractions is smaller than each of the two fractions.

Division of Fractions-

Suppose you have to divide 2÷12

This can also be written as  2 ×21=2×2=4.

The number 21 can be obtained by interchanging the numerator and denominator of 12 or in other words by inverting 12. The non-zero numbers whose product with each other is 1, are called the reciprocals of each other.

CLASS 2 MATHS ICSE BOARD-

This class 2 maths ICSE board topic of maths includes chapters of numbers in which we will learn odd and even numbers, numbers 21-100 on the abacus. Then we have seen the addition of two-digit numbers, and subtraction of two-digit numbers and shapes. Then the topics of addition of three-digit numbers and subtraction of three number digits are also included. We have seen the topic of time in which it talks about the clock and calendar in detail. We have even seen the topic of division which is called repeated subtraction. We will also learn how to represent the division on the number line.

CONCLUSION

We have discussed in detail the class 2 maths topics and even had a short description of what we learned in each and every topic. We have learned tens and ones, counting in tens, and many more topics in detail. We have even discussed class 7 maths of chapter 2 which includes fractions and decimals. In detail, we have learned fractions addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Likewise, we have seen the decimal numbers. Decimal number addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication have been discussed in detail. We have seen the proper fraction, improper fraction, and mixed fractions. We have tried explaining the concepts with a few examples.

Ans.

Ans. When we multiply a decimal number by 10 or 100, we move the decimal point in the number to the right by as many places as there are zero over one. For example-

  0.25 ×10=2.5

  0.25 ×100=25

Ans. The reciprocal of the fraction is obtained by inverting it upside down. In other words, the reciprocal is obtained by using the numerator as the denominator and the denominator as the numerator.

Ans. To divide decimal numbers by a whole number, first, divide them as whole numbers. Then place the decimal point in the quotient as in the decimal number. For example-

2.4 ÷2=1.2

To divide a decimal number by another decimal, first shift the decimal point to the right by an equal number of places in both, to convert the divisor to a whole number. Then divide it.

For example-        2.4 ÷1.2=2
