Hey Pratap.... SLR ka purpose logon ki deposits ko safe bana nahi hain... SLR Keval banks ko liquid rakhne ke liye hain... Taki jab aap aapke paise mangne jao... Toh bank aapko woh desake...

What ever you have written is correct... But the statement says to keep the 'deposits safe' and certainly that is not the point... The statement is partially correct... It would have been completely correct if it would not talk about keeping depositors money safe... I hope you get it..
