BIMSTEC SUMMIT 1. TO BE HOSTED BY NEPAL Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced to host the 2018 BIMSTEC. 2. FULL FORM OF BIMSTEC: Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit. 3. WHAT IS BIMSTEC The BIMSTEC is an international organisation of seven nations of South Asia and South East Asia, including Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan, and Nepal.
KERALA NTPC 1. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING The Kerala State Electricity Board has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Thermal Power Corporation for increasing solar power generation in the state 2. PART OF THE MOU -agreement to set up a 15 MW solar power unit at the NTPC - possibility of setting up solar plants at reservoirs -The power generated would be given to KSEB at a rate fixed by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
CMS 1. CUT DOWN OF MONITORING SYSTEM President Donald Trump's administration has ended US space agency Nasas monitoring system into greenhouse gases, a US journal has revealed. 2. ABOUT CMS The Carbon Monitoring System a-year project which remotely tracks the world's flow of carbon dioxide, is to lose funding. 3. ADVANTAGE OF THE PROJECT The development of CMS has helped the US and other developed countries put pressure on emerging economies like China to agree to strong systems to monitor, record and verify their emissions something that China and India have strongly resisted
DENA BANK 1. CORRECTIVE ACTION The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has initiated prompt corrective action against public sector lender Dena Bank in view of high non-performing loans. -imposition of restrictions 2. The RBI has initiated similar action against other public sector banks, including IDBI Bank, Indian Overseas Bank and UCO Bank before this. 3. PROVISIONS BY RBI IN 2017 The RBI in April 2017 had issued a new set of enabling provisions under the revised PCA framework with a clause that if the bank does not show improvement then it could be either be merged or taken over by other bank.

INDIA-MYANMAR 1. SEVEN AGREEMENTS SIGNED India and Myanmar today signed seven agreements including one on land border crossing while issues were discussed related to peace and security and developments in the Rakhine State from where thousands of Rohingya Muslims had fled to Bangladesh after violence last year. 2. SEVEN AGREEMENTS These included agreement on land border crossing, an MoU on restoration and preservation of earthquake damaged pagodas in Bagan, an MoU on assistance to the joint ceasefire monitoring committee, an MoU on training of Myanmar foreign service officers. -An MoU on setting up Industrial Training Centre (ITC) at Monywa, an MoU on ITC at Thaton Centre and Exchange of Letp and Exchange of Letters on extending a maintenance contract for ITC Myingyan were alseo signed.
