MICRO IRRIGATION FUND The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has approved an initial Corpus of Rs.5,000 crore for setting up of a dedicated "Micro Irrigation Fund" (MIF) with NABARD under Pradhan MantriKrishiSinchayeeYojana (PMKSY) 2. FUND ALLOCATION The allocation of Rs. 2,000 crore and Rs. 3,000 crore will be utilised during 2018-19 and 2019-20 respectively. NABARD will extend the loan to State Governments during this period. Borrowings from NABARD shall be paid back in 7 years including the grace period of two years.

SOLAR POWERED RAILWAY 1.GUWAHATI RAILWAY STATION The Guwahati railway station in the capital city of Assam is the first railway station in the country to be fully solar-powered. 2. 700 KILOWATT POWER The Guwahati railway station building has grid-connected rooftop solar panels totalling a capacity of 700 kilowatt (0.7 megawatt) that will cater to the electricity needs of the station, the coach depot, and the railway colony area, the Northeast Frontier Railway.

  7. NATIONAL POLICY ON BIO FUELS The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved National Policy on Biofuels 2018. 1. The Policy categorises biofuels as 1G, 2G, 3G 2. Policy allows use of surplus food grains for production of ethanol for blending with petrol with the approval of National Biofuel Coordination Committee. 3. The Policy encourages setting up of supply chain mechanisms for biodiesel production from non-edible oilseeds, Used Cooking Oil, short gestation crops. 4. BENEFITS OF THE POLICY
