WORLD BANK 1. PRADHAN MANTRI GRAM SADAK YOJANA The Government of India and the World Bank signed a $500 million loan agreement to provide additional financing for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Rural Roads Project. 2. ADVANCEMENT OF THE PROJECT -So far Bank has invested over $1.8 billion in loans and credits mostly in the economically weaker and hill states across North India Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. It has built and improved about 35,000 km of rural roads and benefited about eight million people with access to all-weather roads
NASIRUL MULK 1. INTERIM PRIME MINISTER Pakistan appointed former chief justice Nasirul Mulk as caretaker prime minister until a general election on July 25. 2. DUTY OF INTERIM ADMINISTRATION The interim administration does not usually make any major decisions until the new government is elected, though it may be forced to act to shore up the economy amid a worsening macro-economic outlook. 3. TRIPURA 1. ELIMINATE PLASTIC BAGS The Tripura government has set August 15 as the deadline to phase out plastic bags, 2. HIMALAYAN CLEANUP PROGRAMME The government, as part of the Himalayan Cleanup' programme, urged people to replace their plastic bags with biodegradable ones. -AlM: to end plastic pollution in the hilly areas. 3. MAHARASHTRA Has already banned plastic w.e.f. March 18, this year.
IT CORRIDOR 1. INDIA CHINA India launched its second IT corridor in China to cash in on the burgeoning Chinese software market which remained elusive despite the presence of top Indian technology firms. 2. NASSCOM The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) has established one more Digital Collaborative Opportunities Plaza (SIDCOP) platform in China 3. EXECUTION OF TH PROJECT The pilot projects launched on the SIDCOP platform would be executed over the next year.
BCCI 1. BCCI AND UN ENVIRONMENT The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and UN Environment signed an agreement to promote 'green' cricket in India. 2. BENEFIT The partnership aims to spread greater awareness about key environmental challenges facing the country highlight alternate and more sustainable solutions - The partnership will also focus on phasing out single-use plastic across stadiums in the country.
RBI 1. CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER NSDL vice-president Sudha Balakrishnan has been appointed as the first chief financial officer (CFO) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), as part of the organisational change. 2. DUTIES OF A CFO -CFO will be responsible for reporting of financial information of the central bank, establishing accounting policies. -The CFO will also be entrusted with communicating RBls expected and actual financial performance.
INDIA 1. WTO India and other key members of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) will discuss ways to combat growing protectionism across the world, including recent actions taken by the Trump regime in the US, at an informal meeting of select Trade Ministers at the OECD meet in Paris later this month. 2. TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED The ways to take forward unresolved issues flowing from the Buenos Aires Ministerial meeting in er 2017 are also likely to be taken up. 3. INFORMAL MEET New Delhi had hosted an informal meeting of select WTO members in March, where members stressed on the need to operate within the ambit of the multilateral trade forum and dispute settlement mechanism.
