  2. VIJAY PRAHAR 1. ARMY-AIR FORCE Troops of the Army's South Western Command are engaged in the "Vijay Prahar" exercise to fine-tune the Army's jointmanship with the Indian Air Force. 2. GAGAN SHAKTI The exercise is being held in the wake of the IAF testing its might in the "Gagan Shakti" 3. DURING THE EXERCISE -practising and operationalising certain concepts of operating in the network-centric environment, -integrated employment of modern-day sensors with the weapon platforms


  3. INDIA JAPAN 1. INDIA JAPAN ENERGY DIALOGUE The 9th India Japan Energy Dialogue was held in New Delhi, in presence of Minister of State(IC) for Power and New &Renewable Energy, Shri R.K Singh, and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Mr. Hiroshige Sekosigned. 2. DISCUSSION -access to reliable, clean and economical energy -strengthening of bilateral energy cooperation for energy development -contributing to worldwide energy security, energy access and climate change issues


  4. 150TH BIRTH ANNIV 1. NATIONAL COMMITTEE Chaired by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan 2. MEMBERS -The Committee has a total of 125 members, including 116 from India and encompasses the President (as chair), the Vice-President, Prime Minister, Union Ministers, former Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers, senior MPs and political leaders from across party lines, and eminent Gandhians. -The Committee also has nine international members, including two former Secretaries General of the United Nations Mr Kofi Annan and Mr Ban Ki-moon and Nobel laureates Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa and former US Vice-President Al Gore.

TELECOM POLICY The draft of National Telecom Policy (NTP) 2018 - National Digital Communications Policy 2018 has been uploaded for public consultations on the Department of Telecom's (DoT) website. 2. FEATURES -making adequate spectrum available to be equipped for the new broadband erd -optimal pricing of spectrum to ensure sustainable an affordable access to digital communications and simplifying the process of obtaining permissions from various agencies


  6. HYDERABAD 1. E OFFICE SYSTEM The Hyderabad city police launched the eOffice System in the city Police Commissionerate office as a citizen-friendly initiative. 2. WHAT IS E-OFFICE? E-Office is a 'product suit' developed by NIC and it aims at handling files in a more efficient and transparent manner to improve the responsiveness to citizens.


  7. EVENT IN NORTH EAST 1. VIBRANT NORTHEAST 2018 The 'Vibrant North East 2018, an event in which people would be made aware of central government's programmes, will be held. 2. ORGANIZED BY Organized by Delhi-based NGO, Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD), 3. SUPPORTED BY The North Eastern Council, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and All India Farmers Alliance.

POWER TO CBIC Applications for setting up of Inland Container Depots (ICDs), Container Freight Stations (CFSs) and Air Freight Stations (AFSs) will now be handled by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs as per a government notification. 2. WORKSHOP The central government will organize block level Kisan Kalyan Karyashalaon, where farmers from each block will gather to interact with agriculture officers, scientists and progressive farmers 2. BENEFIT? -an opportunity to create awareness of various central government programmes. -government is committed to agrarian reforms and will provide adequate budgetary support to all the programmes.

FWA 1.MOHAMED SALAH Liverpool's Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has been voted Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers' Association (FWA) to complete the double of English soccer's major individual awards 2. PLAYER OF THE YEAR Salah was chosen as Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers Associatiorn (PFA) after an outstanding season in which he has scored 43 goals in all competitions. 3. ACHIEVEMENT The 25-year-old is the first African player to win the FWA award which began in 1948
