Gaj Yatra is a nationwide campaign launched by the Wildlife Trust of India in collaboration with Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change in New Delhi on August 12, World Elephant Day, last year. -The campaign aims to protect the elephant and its habitat. 2.   4. ODISHA 1. PAREE PAIN KATHA TIYE Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched 'Paree Pain Katha Tiye' (A word for the little angel), a State-wide awareness campaign against child sexual abuse. 2. AWARENESS PROGRAMME UNICEF and the State police have joined hands for the campaign to create awareness on the importance and role of every member of society in preventing child sexual abuse, need for reporting and need for trauma care. -In each district the campaign will be led by the Superintendent of Police and Distridt Collector.

AWARD Cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been awarded the 'most inspiring icon of the year for Social Welfare" award by the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) for his exemplary contribution in the field of social welfare. 2. FOR HIS JOURNEY Yuvrai, who was a member of India's 2011 World Cup winning squad, was diagnosed with cancer (mediastinal seminoma) shortly after the World Cup. After successfully completing his chemotherapy cycle in the United States, Yuvraj returned to India in 2012 3.IPL Yuvraj Singh, who is currently out of the India cricket team, played for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.


  6. KAMALJIT BAWA 1. LINNEAN MEDAL Indian botanist Kamaljit S. Bawa, president of Bengaluru-based non-profit Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), received the prestigious Linnean Medal in Botany from the Linnean Society of London on May 24. 2. RELEVANCE Dr. Bawa is the first Indian to win the award ever since it was first constituted in 1888. 3. ABOUT LINNEAN MEDAL Linnean society - named after famous Swedish biologist Carl Linnaeus


  7. STATE ANIMAL WELFARE BOARD 1. CONSTITUTED BY HARYANA GOVT Haryana Government has constituted the State Animal Welfare Board for Animal Welfare under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. 2. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD The official members of the Board would include Director, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Department, Director, Urban Local Bodies Department, Chief Wildlife Warden and representative of Animal Welfare Board of India -the Director-General, Animal Husbandry and Dairying would be the Member Secretary.


  8. GUJARAT 1. NEW WATER POLICY The Gujarat government today unveiled its 'Reuse of Treated Waste Water Policy' which aims to reduce the state's dependence on fresh water sources like the Narmada river. 2. IMPORTANCE The policy will promote the use of treated waste water and will see the setting up of sewage treatment plants (STP) in all major towns and cities of Gujarat. -state government has planned to construct 161 sewage treatment plants to treat waste water and use it for non-drinking purposes.
