INDIA-NEPAL 1. SHUTTING DOWN OF OFFICE Nepal will close the Indian Embassy's field office in the near future. 2. BACKGROUND -India was permitted to set up the temporary field office in 2008 to issue passes to vehicles for plying on Indian roads in the bordering region -Initially set up in the eastern Sunsari district, the office was later shifted to the nearby Biratnagar city, about 375 km from here, along the Koshi Highway.
NAVAL EXERCISE 1. INDIA AND VIETNAM India will hold its first naval exercise with Vietnam, as part of the overall strategy to steadily build military ties with nations in the Asia Pacific region. 2. DEPLOYMENT OF WARSHIPS Three Indian warships on operational deployment to South East Asia and North West Pacific region, stealth frigate INS Sahyadri, missile corvette INS Kamorta and fleet tanker INS Shakti, will enter the Tien Sa Port (Danang) 3. DURING THE EXERCISE From May 21 to 25, there will be a professional interaction between personnel of the two navies, official calls and interaction with dignitaries of the Vietnamese Government. On completion of the harbour phase, warships from the two navies would be undertaking thoe exercise.
GANDIV VIJAY 1. RAJASTHAN Indian Army's south western commander Lt Gen Cherish Mathson reviewed 'Gandiv Vijay' exercise in Mahajan field firing ranges near Suratgarh in Rajasthan 2.
