  2. MAY 22 1. THE INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY (IDB) The day is celebrated to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. 2. SELECTING MAY 22 AS THE DAY -When first created by the Second Committee of the UN General Assembly in late 1993, 29 December was designated The International Day for Biological Diversity. -In December 2000, the UN General Assembly adopted 22 May as IDB, to commemorate the adoption of the text of the Convention on 22 May 1992 by the Nairobi Final Act of the Conference for the Adoption of the Agreed Text of the Convention on Biological Diversity.

BANGA BHIBUSHAN 1 AWARD Veteran singer Asha Bhosle, Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee and Justice (retd) Shyamal Kumar Sen among others will be conferred with the highest civilian award of West Bengal, the Banga Bibhushan. 2. BANGA BHUSHAN -Banga Bhushan is a title instituted by the West Bengal Government to honour the services of personalities in various fields.

  4. NIPAH VIRUS 1. WHAT IS NIPAH VIRUS INFECTION Nipah virus (NiV) infection is a newly emerging zoonosis that causes severe disease in both animals and humans. 2. FIRST HEARD -NiV was first identified during an outbreak of disease that took place in Kampung Sungai Nipah, Malaysia in 1998. PAWAN SINGH Former shooter and national coach Pawan Singh has been appointed as the Chairman of the Result Timing Score (RTS) Jury by the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) for the ISSF World Cup in Munich. -With this appointment, Singh became the first Indian to chair the RTS Jury at a senior World Cup. 2. DUTIES OF RTS JURY CHAIRMAN 3. Prior to this, Singh has also represented India at the World Conference organised by the ISSF in 2017.

LED SOLAR STREET LIGHITNG SYSTEM The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned LED Solar Street Lighting system for Arunachal Pradesh under its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund with a total grant of Rs 87.83 lakh. 2. WHAT IS IT -Navika Sagar Parikrama is the name of expedition for circumnavigation of the globe on INSV Tarini by Indian Navy's Women Naval Officers. -The six-member all-woman team circumnavigated and manage the whole operation in this first ever global journey. 2.
