CC that stands for Cubic capacity. It is the chamber’s capacity in a two-wheeler for the mixture of air and fuel for better combustion. According to the research, the section should be medium-size, where combustion can occur. This chamber capacity is mnemonic to the vehicle’s cylinder capacity, which is denoted easily by cc. The size of the tank depends on the size of the vehicle. Ideally, 110 ccs to 150 ccs are considered ideal, but the convention of a larger chamber producing higher energy is true. That’s the reason we consider using a vehicle with a high size chamber.
Use of cubic capacity
CC or cubic capacity is to measure the distance that is covered by a vehicle with the help of fuel consumption amount in cubic metres. This cubic capacity has a unit and is measured in miles per gallon of petroleum.
Calculation with inference to performance
- For example, a bike has 2000 cc as its total capacity, with the total number of four chambers, each chamber accounts for 500cc, in terms of holding capacity. This means an air and fuel mixture of 500 ccs can be mixed in the chamber.
- Here one cubic capacity equates to one ml of fuel-air mixture, so a bike of 2000 cc can hold 2000 ml of fuel and air; this is two litres of cubic capacity.
- This cubic capacity is directly proportional to the torque and energy produced in a vehicle. Here the fuel through combustion produces heat, and this heat is then converted to mechanical energy through the law of energy conservation. This also affects horsepower produced through the mechanical energy synthesised through heat.
- This cubic capacity equates with the number of rotations per minute of the wheel; this, in turn, empowers the vehicle, giving high speed through less usage of fuel. So, if a vehicle can produce high horsepower, then it can produce increased speed and torque. If low horsepower is produced, then the vehicle can only generate less speed and torque to empower the vehicle.
- If the cubic capacity is higher, then there is an increase in the mixing of air and fuel, which increases space for mixing and combustion of fuel, so a large amount of fuel can be combusted at a given time, producing higher energy and higher torque.
- Bugatti veryon has an engine capacity of eight litres of petrol, giving it a higher torque of 1200 newton per minute. This also has increased rotation per minute, giving it a benefit of a higher power. This bike can produce a horsepower of 1500 hp. So higher cubic capacity is equated with increased rotation per minute.
Effect of cubic capacity in premium influence
- Bike insurance is the most mandated one to cover any damage that incurs to a bike at any time, so insuring a bike is a most needed ritual. This premium insurance varies according to the bike’s cubic capacity; there might be many factors influencing it, including cubic capacity.
- There are two different types of insurance, one is buying third party insurance, and the other is comprehensive. This third party insurance includes the amount required for covering damages incurred to the bike during an accident or any incident. This includes an amount to cover your third party damage during a collision or random clueless damage.
- The premium plans for this type of damage are enlisted through a central authority, called the Insurance regulatory and development authority of India (IRDAI). This has allotted a base premium price based on the vehicle’s cubic capacity.
- The next plan is comprehensive, and this includes insurance coverage extending beyond third party damage, that is, damages that occurred to one’s vehicle. This plan also depends not only on cubic capacity but also on many other factors, including the model of the bike price of the bike.
- High engine capacity equates to a higher insurance amount. So the amount required for the repair of the engine is also higher.
- An amount will be certain to be paid to get the insurance needed. This is called a standard deductible. This is mandatory while claiming your insurance. This helps in reducing the amount to be paid as a premium.
Cubical capacity or CC is important in understanding the capacity of energy that an automobile has. So, cubical capacity is the direct measure of energy and horsepower produced in a bike. This validates the mechanical power produced in the sense of rpm.
