  4. Before the Interview Q1. How did you prepare for the interview? Especially college graduation subjects related questions? A. I attended a study group where we discussed the current events. For graduation subjects I made a list of topics in the trend and referred the internet. Mine being Engineering in Information technology was more on the application side than theory based.


  5. Continued 2. Did you attend any mock interviews by coaching classes? How were they similar / different than official interview? Do vou believe it is necessary to attend mock interviews? A. Yes, I attended three mock interviews. My mock interviews were quite comfortable. And yes it gave me a forehand idea about what to expect. My official interview though was a little disappointing as compared to my mocks.


  6. Continued What did you wear? Some experts say coat is must, some say tie is must, and some say black shoes must. What attire did you pick up? A. I went for a safe option. Sober colored cotton sari.


  7. Narrating the entire interview My interview was very formal and cordial. The atmosphere got charged up with the chairman throwing some factual questions about US elections,Tamil Nadu elections and earthquake at Ecuador. Other members probed me on general issues like Chennai port system, marine security to international issues like India-Japan relations Political turmoil in Uttarakhand, National judicial appointments commission, basic structure etc. History of Thyagaraja temple and Cholas Naval strength. There were a few questions on sociologists and their work.


  8. Continued Overall it was a quite a diverse interview and there were no questions from my graduation or the detailed application form profile, the area I had prepared very well.   9. Continued Q. Was your interview on the expected lines of what you had prepared or did they ask you totally unexpected questions? Was it a stress interview? If yes, how did you handle it? A. It was not on the expected lines. Because the interview panel dint seem to have my complete profile before them. So the questions were random.
