Sir last week in pune i attended one seminar on CSE, there they were telling about preparation etc and mean while they said Public Administration was very good optional till 2012 but now it's unfavourable for scoring, aspirants can only reach to clearance level because of the current questioning pattern ,trends in questions and strict correction of answer papers thus one cannot achieve IAS.. because IAS cut off is first 100-150ranks... The favourable optional for scoring is political science , History , economics...... Now Fully tensed... I love to read, study and strongly have interest in knowing all about law , polity ..... things like legislature, roles of President Prime minister ..... executive , municipal corporations ,judiciary etc ... I am Bsc graduate and have nil knowledge of public Administration how should I go with this help me please help me sir

Hi Manoj. Actually from 2012 the pub.ad. paper in upsc is coming a bit tough and it's marking has not been on the higher side.hence it is said that it's not as scoring as other subjects.however, some people are scoring good ranks even with public administration.there is no optional which can guarantee you selection in UPSC. Otherwise only philosophy or history optional students would have been selected.Choose the subject in which you have interest. First read the ncerts of the optional you are interested and then see some of the previous year questions and try to solve them. Only choose the optional which you can study with interest because the preparation of this exam requires time and if you choose one optional and after a year you leave and take other optional it will be a waste of time.so take your time to choose optional. But,i should tell you that the topics you mentioned you will get an opportunity to study them in Polity for prelims and for paper 2 in mains.

Further public administration is much more than president,pm,executive etc. It also have thinkers, theories, mughal administration etc. So kindly read the syllabus of public administration first and then decide.

Yes sir there are theories , thinkers and mughal administration etc.....and I feel this all is very important which any IAS should must knw as dealing with service of administration... I am strongly working with great struggle....to crack this exam at any cost and get into bureaucracy as IAS and serve nation...... I have also understood clearing exam with top rank is very imp to become IAS but to clear this exam my focus must not be just on becoming IAS and should be more focused on what will i do or which all roles as IAS i need to perform to discharge my duties are important and here is public administration required...i need know everything about Public Administration and all as said above to be good IAS in further life.. But Same time question strikes my mind saying I am from science background and with nil knowledge with pub.ad ...the major hurdle is to develop the thinking to analyze the thinkers , theories and comment on it presentin it wisely on answer paper....so thinking how to train myself

Don't worry about your science background.even I am a marine engineer with science background but still I was able to understand public administration. Science background is no hindrance in understanding p.ad. many students from IITs etc take o.ad as their optional and clear upsc with good rank. I must say all the hindrances are in your mind. If with full dedication and calm and composed mind you will read p.ad. you will understand it. I'll suggest you to read basic and standard books first like fadia and fadia, sharma and Sadhna etc.

Sir I request you can you please guide me and help by telling about your optional preparation struggle... What all you referred? How you managed with new subject? Mainly how you trained yourself especially for answer writing for public administration optional. After seeing the recent trends and toughness of public administration ... What is your suggestion to aspirants who are willing to take public administration as optional?? Sir do you feel one can struggle hard taking public administration as optional and he/she can clear upsc with good rank and become IAS in first attempt??

Yes.you can definitely clear with good rank with pub.ad. as optional if youll do hard work.ill post strategy for pub.ad. in a separate video. I was able to do deal with pub.ad with multiple revisions.for self study you can refer ignou notes of b.a and m.a. my suggestion will be to stick with standard books and multiple revisions along with solving previous year questions.
