  2. SPECIAL CATEGORY STATUS 1. ANDHRA PRADESH The Central government has filed a counter affidavit in the Supreme Court expressing its inability to give Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh and said all commitments under the A.P. Reorganisation Act (APRA), 2014 had been addressed 2. WHAT IS SPECIAL CATEGORY STATUS 3. WHY THE SPECIAL CATEGORY STATUS TO AP 4. CONDITIONS TO BE SATISFIED: -Must be economically backward with poor infrastructure. -The states must be located in hilly and challenging terrain.


  3. LEGALIZE GAMBLING 1. LAW COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS The Law Commission of India has submitted a report to the government recommending "cashless" gambling in sports as a means to increase revenue and deal a blow to unlawful gambling. 2. RECOMMENDATIONS MADE -The revenue from gambling should be taxable under laws like Income Tax Act, the Goods and Services Tax Act -There is a need for classification of 'proper gambling' and 'small gambling." Transactions between gamblers and operators should be linked to their Aadhaar and PAN cards

CBIC The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has developed a mobile app 'GST Verify' to protect interest of consumers. -to verify if the person collecting GST from the consumer is eligible to collect it or not. 2. APP DEVELOPED BY This app, developed by B Raghu Kiran joint commissioner GST Hyderabad. 3. ABOUT CBIC nodal national agency responsible for administering Customs, GST, Central Excise, Service Tax & Narcotics in India.


  6. E COMMERCE TASK FORCE 1. MEET Commerce Secretary, Rita Teaotia, chaired the first meeting of the Task Force on e-commerce in New Delhi. The meeting deliberated upon the suggestions emerging from the sub-group meetings held during 20th 22nd June, 2018. 2. TASK FORCE -Decided to set up a Task Force in the first meeting of the Think Tank, on the framework for national policy on e-commerce. -Task Force was further divided into nine sub-groups 3. BAN ON PLASTICS Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced ban on plastic bags, cups and glasses across the state from July 15 onwards. -for the protection of environment and requires co-operation from the public. 2. MOVE BY PREVIOUS SAMAJWADI PARTY had imposed ban on polythene bags following a court order in December, 2015 after a cabinet approva. -The government had also issued notification dated December 22, 2015 3.
