  3. URJA GANGA GAS PIPELINE 1. FIVE COMPANIES Five public sector oil and natural gas companies have signed the joint venture agreementto implement the Rs 6000 Crore gas pipeline grid project in Northeast. The five companies are Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), ONGC, GAIL, Oil India Limited and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) 2. SIGNIFICANCE Besides connecting all the state capitals in the region, the pipeline will also connect with the National Gas Grid through Barauni-Guwahati Gas Pipeline, which is being laid by GAIL. 3. AIM ains to provide piped cookinggas to residents of Varanasi and later to millions of people in states


  4. RENT A LAB POLICY 1. NAME - The policy is called the Scientific Research Infrastructure Management and Networks (SRIMAN) 2. ABOUT THE POLICY Underthe policy, the government plans to hire out to researchers all lab equipment thatcost more than 10 lakh. This would also reduce the amount of time such expensive instruments remain idle. The government has proposed a new policythat could transfornm scientific instruments in government labs into lucrative assets generating a steady rental income


  5. SUKANYA SAMRIDHI YOJANA 1. MINIMUM AMOUNT The minimum amount of annual deposit in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana accounts has beenslashed to 1/4th of the original amount that was required. - 2. CHANGES rules required customers to pay a minimum of Rs.1,000 annuallyto maintain this account for girl child. However, according to the latest changes in Sukanya Samriddhi Account Rules, 2016, customers are required to make only a minimum annual deposit of Rs.250 in Sukanya Samriddhi accounts. 3. 14 YEARS . The deposits in the account may be made till completion of fourteen years, from the date of opening of the account.
