TEJAS 1. COMMENCED OPERATIONS Indigenous fighter aircraft Tejas of No 45 Squadron 'The Flying Daggers formally commenced operations from the Air Force Station at Sulur near Coimbatore under Group Captain S Dhankhar. 2. SOUTHERN AIR COMMAND The Southern Air Command base at Tiruvananthapuram, Kerala has been entrused with the responsibility of integrating the fighter. 3. ABOUT TEJAS It was developed and manufactured under Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme, which began in the 1980s to replace India's ageing MiG-21 fighters.
ELECTIONS 1. C VIGIL APP Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat along with Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa launched an app named C vigil, to report any violation of code of conduct during election. 2. NATIONAL CONSULTATION ON ACCESSIBLE ELECTIONS -Election Commission of India has launched National Consultation on Accessible Election in New Delhi. -The event was inaugurated by Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat. -The event is part of ECI's larger mission to- Leave no voter behind, with a special focus on 'Persons with Disabilities'
SVEEP 1. PORTAL LAUNCHED Election Commission of India has launched a dedicated portal for the ECI's Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation' (SVEEP). 2. ABOUT SVEEP SVEEP is a programme of multi interventions through different modes and media designed to educate citizens, electors and voters about the electoral process in order to increase their awareness and participation in the electoral processes.
NRC 1. SUPREME COURT The Supreme Court extended by a months its 30 June deadline for the publication of the final draft of Assam's National Register of Citizens (NRC). 2. BENCH A bench of justices Ranjan Gogoi and RF Nariman considered the report of Assam NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela and extended the deadline 3. FINAL LIST The final NRC will count only those as Indian citizens who can prove their residency in Assam on or before 21 March, 1971
CENSUS OF INDIA 1. 2021 CENSUS According to an amended rule notified by the Registrar-General of India (RGI), the data collected during the 2021 Census will be stored electronically, the first time since the decennial exercise was conducted in 1951 in Independent India. 2. BACKGROUND -decennial Census of India has been conducted 15 times, As of 2011 While it has been conducted every 10 years, beginning in 1872, the first complete census was taken in the year 1881 -Post 1949, it has been conducted by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India
APTA 1. TRADE CONCESSIONS India has agreed to provide tariff concessions on 3,142 products to Asia Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA) members. These duty concessions will be more for least developed countries (LDCs) and less for developing nations. 2. BANGKOK AGREEMENT -The Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA), previously named the Bangkok Agreement, was signed in 1975 as an initiative of ESCAP -The six member countries are Bangladesh, China, India, Laos, Korea and Sri Lanka. 3. ABOUT THE AGREEMENT to adopt common operational procedures for certification and verification of the origin of goods.
COMPETITION COMMISSION OF INDIA 1. APPROVAL FOR MERGER Bharti Infratel has received the clearance from the Competition Commission of India for its merger with Indus Towers. 2. MANY SUCH APPROVALS REQD including from the Securities & Exchange Board of India, National Company Law Tribunal and the department of telecommunications (DoT), which may also need to give a separate approval for foreign direct investment. 3. INDUS TOWERS Indus Towers is jointly owned by Bharti Infratel (42%), Vodafone (42%), Aditya Birla's Idea group (11.15%) and Providence (4.85%).
RAJASTHAN 1. RESERVATION TO 5 COMMUNITIES The Rajasthan government approved 1 per cent reservation for five communities, including the Gujjar community, under the Most Backward Classes (MBC) category 2. FIVE COMMUNITIES The five communities who benefit from the order of the Rajasthan government are - Godia Lohar, Banjara, Gujar, Raika and Gadaria 3. OBC CATEGORY these castes will also be entitled to to 21 per cent quota under the OBC category for admission to educational institutions and recruitment in government jobs in the state.
