MMP7 & Hypertension

Assessing the symptoms of hypertension at an early stage is extremely important otherwise this serious health condition may eventually prove to be fatal. Hypertension causes our blood pressure to rise. As per the records published by the World Health Organization an approximate population of 1.28 billion people across the world has some traces of hypertension.

MMP7 is the popular abbreviation of the medical term Matrix metalloproteinase. We can define this compound as a small enzyme that is proteolytic by origin and it initiates the secretion of calcium and zinc endoproteinase. Thus due to its role, it has a major impact on various human pathophysiological procedures. Optimum levels of this enzyme govern many common physiological processes like bone development, wound recovery, and remodeling. It also prevents cancer and mediates the invasion of specific cancer cells to some extent by performing various mechanisms. MMP7 has been proved to be a possible treatment formula for patients who have been exhibiting symptoms of hypertension. In this article, we will further discuss in detail the main cause of hypertension and learn about the various stages of hypertension.

How do we explain Hypertension?

In medical terms, hypertension is the formal term for elevated blood pressure. Blood pressure can be defined as the force that acts on the walls of the arteries due to the continuous circulation of blood through them. If this pressure increases too much, an individual suffers from hypertension.

Blood pressure is expressed in two figures. The first one represents a systolic number or the pressure value when our heart beats or contracts. The second number gives us the diastolic value, i.e., the blood pressure when our heart relaxes between two consecutive contractions. The optimum blood pressure in adults is supposed to be less than this reading – 120/80 mmHg. If the systolic value is found to be greater than 140 mmHg and the diastolic number appears to be more than 90mmHg, then there must be some symptoms of Hypertension in that particular person.

Symptoms of Hypertension

The symptoms of hypertension are difficult to detect thus individuals are medically advised to keep a track of their blood pressure from time to time. Doctors tag this medical condition as a “silent killer”. Many people are suffering from this health condition but it becomes too late for diagnosis once they understand the root cause of the problem and seek medical treatment.

However there are some well know symptoms of hypertension like nosebleeds, severe headaches occurring in the early morning, irregular heartbeat patterns (again this can be detected under medical guidance thus routine checkups are needed), visionary dullness, and buzzing for a considerable time in ears. The only possible treatment can begin once the health condition is detected through a health checkup. The procedure of testing heartbeats is prompt and painless. Many automated gadgets are now available in the market that are equipped with sensors capable of detecting pulse rate but we will recommend medical guidance for accurate evaluation and risk management strategies.

The main cause of Hypertension

Years of medical intervention have been able to spot a few common causes that are responsible for potential risks of hypertension in populations across the world. Hereby we discuss a few cautionary symptoms that if one can relate to, must be aware that they might be at risk of getting affected by this health issue.

  • Obesity has been detected as one of the early indicators for individuals showing other traits of hypertension
  • Having less amount of fiber in the diet can be another major issue. Thus one must include fruit and vegetables in their daily meals for essential vitamins and minerals that are beneficial for our heart health
  • Avoiding too much salt is a healthy option
  • Not exercising regularly or at least three to four times a week can lead to high blood pressure
  • Smoking affects heart health.
  • Sleep deprivation or refraining from 6 – 8 hours of sleep every day can lead to symptoms of hypertension
  • Hypertension is common in adults who are aged more than 65
  • For certain ethnic groups like African and Caribbean origin men and women, hypertension is more likely to affect at some point in life

Stages of Hypertension

Mainly there are three primary stages of hypertension. Doctors have classified these stages based on the systolic and diastolic readings. The elevated stage is the condition when the systolic reading shows a measurement between 120-129 while the diastolic reading is less and ranges somewhere around 70 mmHg.

Stage 1 hypertension is when systolic ranges from 130 to 139 mmHg while diastolic reading is taken as 80-89 mmHg.

Stage 2 hypertension is when systolic is higher than 140mmHg while diastolic reading records more than 90 mmHg.

Conclusion

Hypertension is a critical medical issue that can be cured through a change in lifestyle if detected at an early stage. Individuals are advised for heart checkups at regular intervals to keep a track of their health. Otherwise, the symptoms are not sound enough to alarm a person about the possible existence of hypertension.
