Every year thousands of candidates apply for the Civil Services examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). UPSC released the Civil Services examination notification on 02nd February 2022.

DAF stands for Detailed Application Form which is to be filled by the candidates who qualify for the Main Examination. Candidates have to fill Service and Cadre Preferences in the DAF.
The candidate should also scan their relevant original documents as listed below in 200 dpi grayscale and convert to separate pdf files before filling in the online Detailed Application Form (DAF).
Above mentioned list may change as per UPSC Instructions. Some other documents may also be required if mentioned by UPSC for any particular type of candidates.
After final submission UPSC will send confirmation to the registered number and Email ID of the candidate. Candidates can download the E-admit card for mains examination only when they have successfully filled DAF. Moreover, originals of the above-mentioned certificates are required to be produced at the time of UPSC Interview by the candidates.
A candidate is eligible to get community reservation only when that particular community is included in the list of reserved communities issued by the Central Government. If a candidate indicated in the application form for Preliminary Examination mentions General category but wants to change his/her category to a reserved one later then such request shall not be entertained by the Commission except in some exceptional cases. When a particular caste is included in the list of reserved communities within 3 months from the date of submission of application, the Commission may consider a request for change of community. In case of a candidate unfortunately becoming physically disabled during the course of the examination process, the candidate should produce a valid document showing that the disability is to the extent of 40% or more as mentioned in the relevant rules so that he/she can get the benefits of PwBD reservation.

The Notification for the Civil Services Examination, 2021 was released by the Commission on March 04, 2021. The notification contains all the details related to the examination dates, number of vacancies, eligibility criteria, syllabus, application process, fee, exam centers etc. The exam is being conducted to fill in 712 vacancies as listed in the notification with 22 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability. The Preliminary examination will be held on October 10 2021. Candidates can visit the Commission’s website to fill the application form. Detailed instructions for filling up online applications have been provided on the website. The application window was closed on March 24 2021. The admit cards for the Preliminary Examination were made available from September 16 2021. The admit cards can be downloaded from the Commission’s website on the above mentioned link.
