The State Legislature of Odisha has announced what it claims is a more efficient system than the stated one, amidst the widespread implementation of farm-loan relief schemes across the country. The State Government has launched the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) initiative to give financial assistance to farmers before the start of the planting season. GRANTS TO SMALL AND MARGINAL FARMERS
The plan is expected to benefit over 30 lakh smallholder farmers in the state. (II) Directly combat poverty by giving financial aid to the state’s most disadvantaged farm households, landless labourers, and marginal growers.
(III)To assist 92 percent of the state’s growers and nearly all landless cultivators
(IV)To offer farmers with an accessible and adaptive support system
(V)Agriculture sector development
(VI)Ensure that agricultural productivity is maintained.
(VII)Farmers’ income should be increased.
KALIA YOJNA SCHEME BENEFIT
Odisha’s government runs the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) program. KALIA Scheme was introduced by the Odisha government for farmers, cultivators, croppers, and landless agricultural labourers. The government will give the following advantages to the scheme’s participants under this scheme:
(i) The first and most important benefit of this framework is that the government will provide financial assistance to small-scale farmers by providing Rs.25000 per household over five years to assist them purchase inputs such as seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides, as well as use assistance for labour and other investments.
(ii) Every impoverished Agricultural Household would get Rs. 12500/- for agricultural linked activities such as small goat raising units, mini-layer units, duckery units, fisheries kits for fishermen, mushroom farming and bee-keeping, and so on.
(iii) Vulnerable farmers and landless agricultural labourers would get Rs.10000 per household per year to assist them survive.
(iv) Saving bank customer accounts who are above 18 and are under 50 years old will also be granted life insurance of Rs.2 lakh at a minimal fee of Rupees 330/- (Rs.165 would be paid for by the sovereign body of Odisha).
(v) Accident insurance cover of ₹2 lakh for saving bank customer accounts aged 18 to 50 years at a minimal charge of Rs.12/- (Rs.6 would be funded by the state of Odisha).
Farmers will also be provided with a Crop Loan of Rs.50000 at 0% interest.
