Cells-Cell Division

The topic related to Biology defines the topic of cells and it can be seen that “cell division” is the main topic in this study.

The present topic deals with biology and in this field, the divisions of cells will be described. ‘Cell’ is an important topic of Biology and humans as well as any living being mainly depends on the cells. In the field of Biology, two types of cells can be seen and they are- “Mitosis” and “Meiosis”. In this case, it has been seen that cell division mostly means ‘mitosis’. It is the process of making new body cells and is important in the family of cells. On the other hand, ‘meiosis’ is the type of cell division that creates eggs and sperm cells.

Cell division definition

Cells must be divided in order to produce more cells in the body. It can be said that cell division is the process by which cells can be multiplied and it involves the nuclear and cytoplasmic divisions. The process can also be defined as the division of a cell into two daughter cells with the same genetic material. There are many reasons for dividing a cell but the main reason is to divide cells so that living things can grow. Organisms grow because cells are dividing to produce more and more cells. On the other hand, it can be said that cell division is the process of the formation of new cells from parent cells. New cells are most important for replacing the old cells and cell division is necessary for the growth and development of multicellular organisms. Cell division is most important for maintaining the total number of chromosomes.

Types of cell division

There are mostly two types of cell division and they are mitosis and meiosis. Most of the time cell division refers to mitosis when people refer to this context of cell division. Mitosis is considered to be the process of making new body cells. On the other hand, meiosis is the processor type of cell division that creates sperm and egg cells. It is mainly said as a fundamental process of the need of life. It has been seen that during the process of mitosis a cell duplicates all the content of it including the chromosomes and it splits to form two identical daughter cells. The process is very critical and it has been controlled by genes. It can be seen that the function of mitosis is most important and when the process does not work properly many problems such as cancer can happen. Therefore the idea can be drawn that mitosis will have to be regulated correctly for decreasing health problems.

Stages of cell division

The five phases of cell division and mitosis help to coordinate the movements of proteins. The five phases or stages of cell division are “Prophase, Prometaphase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase”. Mitosis has started with the prophase and during this phase chromosomes recruit condensing and it has continued till the process of metaphase. Prometaphase begins with the abrupt fragmentation of the nuclear envelope into many small vesicles that will eventually be divided between the future daughter cells. It has been seen that during the metaphase chromosomes assume the most compacted state when the centromeres of all the chromosomes of a cell have lined up at the equator of the spindle. Anaphase and Telophase are considered to be the last phase of the cell division process.

The function of cell division

Cell division is the process by which new cells are formed for repair, growth, and replacement in the body. The functional and structural characteristics of different types of cells are determined by the nature of the protein present in their cells. Different types of cells have various functions and it is because cell function and structure are closely related. It is important to note that a cell that is too thin is not suited for a protective function. It can be said that bone cells do not have an appropriate structure for nerve impulse conduction. Just like the different types of cells, there are many functions of cells. The cell function includes the movement of substances across the cell division, cell membrane for protein synthesis and the making of new cells. It has been seen that the survival of a cell depends upon the maintenance of differences between intracellular and extracellular material.

 Conclusion

Cell division is considered to be the most important aspect of the biological field and the growth of cells happens through this process. It is considered to be the most important process where the growth, repair, and replacement of cells happen in the body. Mainly two types of cell division have been found and it is mitosis and meiosis. They are the main aspect of the growth of the body and new cells are important for the replacement of the old cells. This is considered to be an obvious factor and is most important for the growth of the body.
