GATE Exam Eligibility 2024 – Age Limit, Qualification, Number of Attempts

The GATE 2024 eligibility criteria has been published online on the official website gate2024.iisc.ac.in by IISc Bangalore.

Students can apply for the exam via the official website. IIT Kharagpur has released the GATE eligibility criteria. Candidates need to meet the eligibility criteria to appear for the exam. The eligibility criteria are mentioned below: 

  1. Age Limit: There is no age limit to apply for GATE.
  2. Nationality: Candidates of all nationalities can apply for the exam
  3. Academic Qualification: 
  1. Candidates who are studying in the 3rd year or higher years of any graduation can apply.
  2. Candidates who have completed any government-approved degree in Engineering/Architecture/Technology/Science/Commerce/Arts are eligible to apply. However, candidates who have certificates from any professional society need to ensure that the examinations are conducted by AICTE/MoE/UGC/UPSC approved societies.
  3. Candidates who are pursuing/have obtained the qualifying degree from countries other than India need to be in their 3rd or higher years or should have completed their Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Commerce/Technology/Arts/Science.

GATE 2024 Eligibility Criteria – Document Requirements

To fulfill the GATE 2024 eligibility criteria, candidates must upload specific documents when applying. Here are key points regarding these documents:

  1. For those completing qualifying exams in 2024 or earlier, submit the degree certificate or relevant certificates issued by designated authorities.

  2. If expected to meet eligibility criteria in 2024 or later, upload a Provisional Certificate Letter or marks card for Section A of AMIE, etc.

  3. PwD candidates must provide a PwD certificate from a recognized authority. Only those with at least 40% impairment receive a fee concession.

  4. Candidates with backlogs should upload a final year mark sheet from their institute, not an internet-downloaded one.

  5. SC/ST candidates must submit valid proof for a fee concession, which is recognized certificates only.

  6. Dyslexic candidates need a certificate for scribe assistance.
