The major aim of the National Education Policy is to transform India's educational system from elementary education to higher education and also vocational training.

Educational policy predominantly gives emphasis on the creative potential of each individual. It generally follows the principle that education not only depends on the cognitive potentials of the individual but also it develops the moral, ethical, social and emotional capacity. Keeping this particular thing in mind, the Government of India launched a new education policy in 2020. The main aim of the National Education Policy is to create a comprehensive framework for primary education, higher education as well as functional education. This policy also includes the development and implementation of the new education policy both in urban and rural areas.

Aim of the National Education Policy and its importance 

The National Educational Policy was launched on 29th July 2020 with the aim of the new educational system of India. The rich heritage of knowledge and wisdom of ancient India and its successful implementation serve as a guide for enforcing this new education policy. The new education policy was enforced to fulfil some special objectives. One of the main Aim of the National Education Policy is mentioned below-

  • In this new education policy, the teachers are placed in the middle of the fundamental reforms of the education system. This policy gave emphasis on the teachers as they are responsible for shaping the future of the students. Thus this policy focuses on empowering the teachers. It helps the teacher to do their job in the best possible way. 
  • Another important aim of the National Education Policy is to provide all the students with a better education irrespective of their gender, race, social, or economic background. This new education policy gives importance, especially to the marginalized and disadvantaged group of students.
  • This new education policy ensures that all students can equally have access to targeted education policies determined by the Government.
  • The new educational policy was set according to the local, global need for education in particular places. Another aim of the National Education Policy is to provide early childhood education and care with a new Pedagogical and Curricular structure.

Evaluation of Education Policy and its causes

Over time, the evaluation of education policy happens based on the demand and necessity of the circumstances. ‘The National Policy on Education was structured in 1986 and was reformed in 1992. Since then, various changes have taken place in the policy. The new education policy 2020, from the 21st century, replaces the 34-year-old education policy. This new policy of education includes a systematic process of analysis, collecting, and interpreting information to determine the benefits of the education. In the course of time, the Government realizes the need of implementing a better educational system which can be a way to a better future for the students. Finally, the new education policy has been implemented, and the aim of the National Education Policy is to eliminate the barriers in the educational system, which is marked as an evaluation in Educational policy.

Important Highlights of the Education Policy and its features

The Government particularly focuses on the important highlights of the Education Policy and also gives special importance to its features. Some important features are mentioned below- 

  • One of the most important features of the new education policy is that it provides the universal access to the all-school education
  • This policy attains the foundational numeracy and literacy, recognizing them as necessary and urgent factors to learning.
  • The policy reforms in school pedagogy and curriculum are aimed at the holistic development of the learner and equipping them with the skill of the 21st century. 
  • The policy gives importance to the mother language and promotes the mother language or the regional language as the medium of learning until grade 5.

Conclusion 

The new education policy is enforced in the educational system that saves the various objectives of the educational system and as well as to the learning methods of the students. Over time the education policy has undergone several reforms. The NEP of 2020 serves as the way to a better educational system which certainly eliminates the additional barriers in the process of learning. The reforms in the syllabus give students an understanding of their studies in a more comprehensive way. It further includes more choice and flexibility in the syllabus that helps the the3 students in critical thinking and practical experiment of knowledge in their study. Furthermore, NEP promotes the recruitment of teachers on a large scale.
