The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is an Indian government department charged with health policy in India. It is also responsible for all government programs related to family planning in India.

The Minister of Health and Social Care holds a cabinet function as a member of the Council of Ministers. The current Minister is Mansukh L. Mandaviya while the current Minister of Health (MOS: Assistant Minister i.e. currently Assistant to Mansukh L. Mandaviya) is Dr Bharati Pawar.

Since 1955, the Department has regularly published the Indian Pharmacopoeia through the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), an autonomous standard-setting body for drugs, pharmaceuticals and medical devices and technology in India.

Ministry of Family Welfare

The Department of Family Welfare (FW) is responsible for aspects of family welfare, particularly in reproductive health, maternal health, paediatrics, information, education and communication; cooperation with non-governmental organizations and international aid groups; and rural health services.
