As per RBI standards, local financing institutions, including regional rural banks, would have to provide 75 per cent of their overall loans towards the financing of the priority sector.

Retail and wholesale traders could enroll on a government website called as Udyam for registration purposes and to take advantage of MSMEs’ financing privileges. Retailers and wholesalers would benefit from cheaper interest rates on their borrowed finance from bank loan facilities, direct tax incentives, as well as priority for financing government projects after making a registration under MSME.

Several programmes introduced throughout the Atma Nirbhar Bharat programme provide quick funding to retail and wholesale merchants. Small and medium retailers and wholesalers that seem to generate their annual turnover around at least Rs. 250 crore would benefit from this decision to include the retail and wholesale operations as MSMEs.
