CollabCAD | National Informatics Centre

Under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, that is, MeitY, National Informatics Centre can be described as the Indian Government’s technology partner. The establishment of the National Informatics Centre took place in 1976. The aim of this establishment can be described as providing solutions to the State and the Central Government that are technology-driven. The National Informatics Centre can be described as the government’s technology partner. Now, CollabCAD can be described as a 3D CAD software system. The use of this system can be in terms of developing industrial designs and collaborative designs. The use of CollabCAD can take place in diverse industries to create engineering drawings and 3D models. The development of CollabCAD is through the National Informatics Centre’s Computer-Aided Design Group, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology along with the collaboration with Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. 

The CollabCAD software was jointly launched by NIC and CBSE. Thus, it can be said that the CollabCAD software launch on 14 January 2021 took place jointly with CBSE. This initiative aims to provide a great platform for students for creating and modifying digital designs in 3D with creativity as well as imagination’s free flow. CollabCAD software can be explained as an original three-D CAD software for the purpose of collaborative designing of products on a particular network. The software can be useful for providing comprehensive solutions pertaining to engineering for teachers as well as students who are having Engineering Graphics Syllabus. An Electronic-book has also been released on CollabCAD three-D modelling that can be extremely useful for the students of CAD, the beginners as well as help professionals in better understanding and effective usage of the CollabCAD Software. The release of this electronic book took place in a joint manner by the Central Board of Secondary Education, that is, CBSE, National Informatics Centre, that is NIC and Atal Innovation Mission that is AIM. 

The development of CollabCAD took place through the use of open-source and free libraries and solutions for the development and the collaborative design of the industrial designs.
