What Is PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana?

PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana is a government initiative to provide social and financial security to small and marginalized farmers during their old age. The scheme is open to all the small landholding farmers aged 18-40 years. Under this scheme, the eligible farmers will receive a pension amount of Rs. 3000 per month and other benefits during their old age.

The scheme was constructed keeping in mind the struggles and shortcomings of small and marginalized farmers in India. Once they attain old age, they can no longer work in fields. Small farmers do not have much savings, making their old age full of struggles. The scheme is effective from August 9, 2019.

Key Features Of The PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana

  • The Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare, and Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare of the Government of India administers the PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana.
  • The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) serves as a partner in the scheme and the Government of India.
  • LIC manages fund management and payout pensions of the beneficiaries.
  • LIC will allot a pension fund account to the eligible farmers.
  • Eligible farmers will contribute a fixed sum to the PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana pension fund.
  • The Government of India will pay an equal amount every month to the beneficiary’s pension fund.
  • The State and Union Territory government, where the candidate resides, may also opt to share the individual contribution to the pension fund.
  • The individual and Government contributions will be used to release pensions to farmers during their old age.
  • Farmers can also apply for auto-debit of monthly contributions to the pension fund. They have to fill out an enrollment form, after which a monthly deduction will be made directly from their bank account.

What Is Eligibility For Registering PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana?

  • The beneficiary should be a Small and MarginalIndian farmer.
  • He/she should be 18-40 years of age.
  • They should own less than 2 hectares of land. 
  • Eligible farmers should have a bank account in their name in which pension will be credited.

Who Can Not Apply For PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana

  • Small and marginal farmers who  are already enrolled in another social security scheme by the Central or State government.
  • Beneficiaries of PM Shram Yogi Maan Dhan Yojana.
  • Beneficiaries of PM Laghu Vyapari Man Dhan Yojana.
  • Eligibility for registering PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana is not given to farmers who have institutional land under their name.
  • Farmers who were or are in Constitutional posts.
  • Farmers who paid income tax during the last assessment year.
  • Eligibility for registering PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana is not given to farmers who are ministers in Central, State, or Local administrative bodies.
  • Farmers who were or are serving at any Central, State, or Local government job.
  • Professionals whose practice is ongoing like doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc.

How To Apply For PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana

  • The eligible farmers have to visit the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC).
  • They should carry their Aadhaar card and bank passbook with them. If they don’t have a passbook, they should carry their bank account details.
  • Candidates have to give their name, account number, date of birth, address, mobile number, and details of spouse or nominee to the Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE).
  • VLE will register the candidate online on the official website of the scheme.
  • The candidate will provide the candidate details and fill out an auto-debit mandate form. This ensures a monthly deduction of contribution to the pension fund directly from the candidate’s bank.
  • The CSC will manually check the documents and verify the candidate’s details.
  • OTP verification will be carried out to verify the candidate’s mobile number.
  • The candidate will verify the details in the form himself/herself and sign it to confirm.
  • The scanned copies will be uploaded on the official portal of the scheme by the VLE.
  • The candidate and CSC will sign the auto-debit mandate form, which will be scanned and uploaded to the portal.
  • Online registration will be completed, and the candidate will receive a pension card with his/her unique pension account number. 
  • The candidates have to pay a service fee of Rs. 30 to the CSC.

Self Enrolment Process

  • The candidates can also register themselves online on the scheme’s official website. 
  • Visit the official website of Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana.
  • Click on ‘Sign In’ and select the Self Enrollment option.
  • You have to provide your mobile number for OTP verification. Once OTP verification is complete, you have to fill out a form with your name, account number, date of birth, address, etc.
  • After filling in all details correctly, recheck once and click on the ‘Submit’ option.
  • Print a copy of the form to keep with you as a reference. 

Conclusion

PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana is a step of the Union Government to prevent small farmers from struggling in old age. After 60 years of age, the farmers can not work hard in the fields and are left unemployed. Small farmers do not have enough savings to spend their old age peacefully. Hence, this scheme provides a monthly pension to such farmers in their old age.
