A code of conduct for political parties was recommended by the National Integration Conference, which was held in 1961 after realising its necessity. For achieving a high level of national integration, additional measures can be suggested in addition to those made by the National Integration Conference.
Supporting Secularism
In the multi religious society of India, the secularist mentality is absolutely essential. Due to this, the National Integration Conference of 1961 recommended that no political party engage in any activity that might exacerbate existing tensions or disparities among distinct castes, communities, or linguistic groups. There is a call to outlaw all communal parties and organisations in order to lessen the severity of the communalism threat. Any practices that elicit strong emotions in the public should be forbidden. There should be no prejudice based on a person’s religion.
Integration of Culture:

Development of the economy:
National integration is severely hampered by regional disparities in economic development and the extreme poverty of a certain group of people. Poverty remains a major issue despite the adoption of five-year economic plans and several socioeconomic welfare programmes. Many people continue to live outside of the country’s mainstream. Economic development refers to the overall growth of the nation and the people. To ensure common national prosperity, special efforts in this area are required.
Education:
People who are illiterate and stupid cannot understand the principles of national integration. Only education can foster belief in a person’s moral value and integrity. The educational establishments can be crucial venues for igniting the sense of national integration.
Education institutions may be tasked with researching and solving numerous social issues. Exchanges of faculty members and students for lectures or seminars across higher education institutions, such as colleges and universities, can advance national integration. To prevent communalization of textbooks, reading materials used by students in schools and colleges should be thoroughly inspected.
Conclusion
In addition to the actions taken by the government, non-governmental social service organisations can significantly contribute to advancing the process of national integration. These organisations are able to raise the required social awareness to bring about social reforms and a shift in the public’s mindset. A subsequent increase in awareness may encourage national integration.
