Centrally Sponsored Scheme

The term “Centrally Sponsored Scheme” refers to the fact that the federal government of India backs a number of different initiatives aimed at state-level development. Since the federal government has access to a greater pool of resources than the state governments do, the primary purpose of these programmes is to supplement the efforts that have already been made by those state governments. Programs with either a national or a regional focus can be classified as having a central government sponsor if they fall into the category of centrally sponsored schemes.
