There are several unrecognised countries in the world. Most of them claim their sovereignty and have their government. However, they are not recognised internationally, and sometimes they are recognised as if they do not exist. Many countries are not recognised by the US, Europe, and Africa, and they are not eligible to have any kind of international trade, agreements, or negotiation.
Transnistria
This is one of the countries which is not recognised and at the same time the most familiar country in the world. Its official name is the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. There is a thin line nestled between Moldova and Ukraine. The country has passports, borders, flags, currency, and most surprisingly, the independence day. Even then, it is not recognised by Moldova. Tiraspol is the capital city, and it is kept in mind by the soviet regime. It is most often referred to as the last remnant related to the USSR.Â
Western Sahara
This is one of the largest territories subjected to dispute in the region of Maghreb in the northwest part of Africa. It has its flag and claims the borders along with the combined control by the Sahrawi Arab, which is a democratic Republic and is considered to be a part of the Sahara Desert. It has a population which is just near 500,000. It was on the United Nations list, which is of the self-governing form of territories from 1963. This was due to the request made by the city of Morocco.
The Uzupis Republic
It is one of the most forms of self-declared republics; this was formed in 1997 by an artistic neighbourhood in the city of Vilnius and the capital of Lithuania. The country has its currency, President, quirky constitution, cabinet ministers, an anthem including its army, and the national day.Â
TaiwanÂ
It is one of the small islands located in the northeast part of China. This state is recognised by the 13 states of the United States. While it must be noted, it has an unofficial form of relations with nearly 50 countries. It wants to be recognised as an independent state.Â
Abkhazia
It is one of the unusually unrecognised countries. It can be entered from Georgia as well as from the Russian side. It has its currency like the one which is mentioned above. Its population is around 200,000 in the year 2017. It is recognised by Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela as well as Nauru.
Some of the countries are not recognised by the US. The United States just has formal relations with most of the nations. This mainly includes all the UN members and those who serve as an observer apart from Bhutan, North Korea, Syria, Iran, and the UN observer state belonging to Palestine. Later, they were not recognised by the United States. It is considered important to be considered by the United States to achieve independence partially.
In most situations, as the United state is the major power in the world in terms of military force as well as economically, it can decide the countries’ independence. Â Â Â Â
Countries Not Recognized in Europe
There are also many unrecognised countries in Europe. Today Europe is one of the countries which is most populated. The context related to sovereignty and national borders is always fixed and immutable. In the eye of the unrecognised western country is like a surreal concept.Â
Some of the places in Europe find themselves peaceful within Eastern Europe’s borders. Some of the states appealed directly to Russia to help carry them in the uncertain situation, which has fogged the country’s progress.
Unrecognised countries in Africa are found in this country and face lots of turmoil concerning their status. Somaliland is recognised as part of the northern part of Somalia. The Amazon, the Federal Republic in the western part of Cameroon, is an unrecognised part of Africa.
Why Did The Unrecognised States Declare Their Independence?
The Republic of Logone and Amazonia declared its independence by getting proclaimed by itself in October 2017. The latter declared its independence in the year 2015 on 4th December, and Somaliland, a republic state, declared itself independent in the year 1991 on May 18th.Â
Somalia was part of the British Empire. Later, it became independent and joined the Somalia state in 1960 on July 1st. After a crackdown in terms of nationalists, Somaliland was declared independent.
In the case of Logone, the Christian president was taken away from the power by the Muslim rebels, and this led to the violence and conflict between the two groups, who could not live in peace together. Based on this, the republic of Logone was considered independent by the Seleka group of Muslim rebels.
Conclusion:
By this, it is clear that across many parts of the world, there are many unrecognised territories. Many countries are not recognised by the US, Europe, and Africa. Some countries are not accepted as independent states, though they have language, currency, and the flag. The other state does not recognise them in terms of their sovereignty.
