These are legal documents issued by governments, employers, and employees that establish fundamental workplace concepts and rights. Conventions/protocols, which are legally binding international treaties ratified by member nations, or recommendations, which are nonbinding suggestions, are the two types of agreements. The former are drafted and adopted at the annual International Labour Conference, following which they must be confirmed by member states’ governing bodies, such as their legislatures or congresses.

There are  four governance conventions that are crucial for “The proper operation of the international labour standards system.”

Quotas for member countries are a primary factor of voting power in IMF decisions. One vote per 100,000 special drawing rights (SDR) of quota is added to the basic vote. The IMF issues SDRs as a form of international monetary reserve currency to bolster member countries’ current cash reserves.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) was established in 1945 as part of the Bretton Woods agreement, which aimed to encourage international financial cooperation by establishing a system of fixed-rate convertible currencies.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) collects and analyses huge amounts of data on national economies, international trade, and the global economy as a whole, as well as forecasting economic conditions.

One of the IMF’s most important functions is to make loans to countries in economic distress in order to  alleviate financial crises.

Importance of IMF:

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) aims to alleviate poverty, stimulate trade, and ensure financial stability and economic progress around the world. It does it by monitoring capacity development and giving loans. While the IMF is actively working on these objectives with its 190 member countries, it has been criticised for the potential detrimental consequences of its structural adjustment initiatives.

Roles of IMO’s:
