On September 25, 2014, the Ministry of Rural Development introduced this program. This program was developed to help underprivileged rural adolescents between the ages of 15 and 35 by offering them training, employment, and job placement. Anyone who earns a living through odd jobs and has even a basic level of education is eligible for training and employment under this program, including unemployed rural youngsters.

Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana

The Indira Awaas Yojana plan was replaced by the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin on April 1, 2016. This plan was implemented in order to fill up the gaps in the rural housing program and help the government fulfil its promise to provide “Housing for All” by 2022.

This program intends to give households living in kutcha and run-down homes as well as those who are homeless a pucca house complete with all the amenities they require. According to SECC (Socio-Economic and Caste Census) data, the beneficiaries of this program are all households that are homeless and those that reside in zero, one, or two-room homes with kutcha halls and kutcha roofs.

The National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) and the National Rural Livelihoods Mission are two government programs that have been combined to create the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana (DAY) (NRLM). NULM was established by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. In June 2011, the Ministry of Rural Development introduced NRLM. The mission of DAY is to empower the impoverished in urban and rural areas by enhancing their possibilities for sustainable livelihood and skill development.

The implementation of NULM aims to lessen the vulnerability and poverty of urban poor households. To help the rural poor have better access to financial services and raise their household income through viable livelihood options, NRLM offers them effective and efficient institutional platforms.
