CSC India Limited

CSC stands for Common Service Center. They are those areas which facilitate the delivery of various physical facilities under the e-Services by the Government of India. They provide services to all those areas which are located very remotely in the country. Their services are mostly meant for those places which do not have internet availability.

CSCs can be said to be the access point or the focal point for the delivery of certain essential public services, social welfare schemes, healthcare, financial, education and agriculture services, and all other services to the citizens residing in the remote rural areas of the country. It speaks for the Government’s mandate of a socially, financially and digitally inclusive society, along with being a pan-India network which caters to the regional, geographical, linguistic and cultural diversity of the country.

  1. The CSC project forms a strategic component of the National e-Governance Plan. It was approved in 2006 September. The CSC is an approved project which comes under the Integrated Mission Mode Projects of the National e-Governance. It was incorporated on July 16, 2009.
  2. It was decided that its implementation would be done using a PPP model (Public-private partnership).
  3. The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs. 57.42 billion, which, within the course of 4 years, be shared between the Government, accounting to be around 30%, equaling to Rs. 16.49 billion, and private finances, around 70%, equating to about Rs. 40.93 billion.
  4. It was also decided that the central Government contributed around Rs. 8.56 billion and the state government around Rs. 7.93 billion.
  5. There are around 88,689 CSCs have been rolled out in the thirty-one States/UTs in India till January 31 2011. Out of these, almost all of the CSCs have been rolled out in the 11 states of India, namely Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kerala, Manipur, Pondicherry, Sikkim & Tripura.
  6. The Common Services Centers have been a hot topic of discussion in the news recently. This is because of the fact that CSC has received approvals to manage and operate the passport seva Kendra kiosks in rural areas. 

Csc India Limited Delivers the Following Functions

  1. Delivers G2C (Government to Consumer) communication, which includes health, education, agriculture, employment, fundamental rights, and disaster warnings.
  2. It helps in the dissemination of information with the help of kiosks, voice and local language interface, and even includes web browsing.
  3. Helps provide all types of e-Governance & e-Services, like e-Krishi, information, banking, insurance, travel, post, e-Forms, etc.
  4. Recording the grievances, complaints, requests and suggestions using C2G kiosks.
  5. It is helpful in the payment for NREGA, etc.
  6. In the healthcare industry, which includes telemedicine & remote health camps.

Objectives of CSC India limited

  1. Provides access to information in all the remote areas or to all rural citizens.
  2. It provides the delivery of various services, G2C & B2C.
  3. Provides ICT functionaries for rural Empowerment of the people who are disadvantaged on a social basis, aiming at inclusive growth.
  4. provides access to quality education for skill upgradation of the disadvantaged group.
  5. Provides access to health services which are cost-efficient.

Telemedicine Service

Telemedicine is also referred to as telehealth or e-medicine. It refers to the delivery of all the healthcare services, like examinations and consultations over telecommunication infrastructure.

These services are especially helpful in the rural and remote areas of the country and provide services remotely. They are very welcome in the areas where people cannot go seek medical facilities instantly due to being in remote areas.
