Ganga Utsav 2021 is the largest and most successful clean Ganga programme ever organised. The event drew widespread coverage in print, electronic, social media and television. It was widely covered by the media in India and around the world.
Ganga Utsav 2021 is also known as River festival or Nadi utsav. The year 2021 is an important year for Ganga because that was when the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMGC) first met on 3 August 2009 to launch the mission. This helped create awareness about the importance of conserving water in a nation where water is such an important resource.

The goal of the festival is to reach out to as many people as possible in the Ganga belt from Kanyakumari to Haridwar. NMCG plans on doing this through posters, newspaper and magazine ads, billboards, pamphlets, TV ad films and a lot more. They also want to get as many people involved with this movement as possible by creating forums for discussion and awareness about water conservation for the future.

Ganga Utsav Location
In the year 2021, Ganga Utsav was launched online due to the Covid restrictions.
The campaign was launched on 1 November. All social media platforms have been shared with a passionate call to participate. A call for action has been made to people from all over the country.
Ganga Utsav 2021 was launched to spread awareness about the need for the conservation of our natural resources. It was also to celebrate the fact that Ganga is the most important river in India and it is very important for religious people. The campaign was spread across different social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube etc. and through events held in different places.
The Ganga Utsav 2021 was the first social media-based mass awareness drive on a grand scale and it was also the most comprehensive of its kind. It received exceptional viewership across India and abroad. It was also the first time when a government undertook an initiative such as this one to create such awareness amongst people about the importance of our culture, heritage and tradition. The campaign attracted a vast online audience, especially the youth of the country. The campaign also included a group of social media volunteers who spread awareness about the issue through their active involvement in Twitter chats and discussions. These volunteers, who are known as Cyber Swachchagis, are part of a larger network of Swachchagis. They have also contributed to the cause by making videos and spreading awareness about the clean Ganga movement through their Facebook page.
The campaign’s message was also spread through different activities such as the two-kilometre long cleanliness drive in Varanasi and a clean shower campaign in Varanasi. The government sent out flyers to enhance awareness about the campaign. The media coverage of the Ganga Utsav 2021 has been widespread. In total, more than 1,015 news stories have been published about this campaign. Print media and electronic media have also covered the event extensively.
Ganga Utsav 2021 logo
The campaign’s logo was designed by Gaurav Sharma and Payal Vishwakarma. It is a beautiful combination of the Ganges river, a lotus flower and India’s national bird, the peacock. The logo also showcases its philosophy of being inclusive to all. As per the designers, the logo is a reflection of the three colours on the Indian flag, saffron (upper part), white (middle part) and green (bottom part). The logo is simple and has a lot of colour gradation that makes it look very beautiful and elegant.
Conclusion
The Ganga Utsav 2021 campaign has been a successful awareness-building exercise. It is one of the best examples of social media creating mass awareness on an important issue. Though there is still a long way to go till the government’s dream of a clean river comes true, this campaign was a significant step in the right direction.
In 2018, Ganga Sagar (The Clean Ganga Mission), launched by the government of India, was an ambitious project to clean up the Yamuna and Ganges rivers. The campaign gained momentum after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced it.
