Introduction

The terrestrial boundaries of economic or constitutional entities such as countries, border protection territories, and sovereign nations are defined by boundary lines. Boundary demarcation is the process of setting a border. Some international borders, such as those within a free movement zone like the European Union, are either inadequately protected or totally open. Others, like the India-Pakistan border or the North Korea-South Korea border, may be heavily guarded, with access constrained to assigned crossing points.

Boundary Lines

The international boundary line is drawn between two parcels of land as the state line. It is the demarcation line trying to separate two states’ boundaries. This line or plane indicates some limit or extent for each country.

• The Marginal Line had been a 320-kilometer fortified line along the Russia-Finland border. General Mannerheim drew it up.
• Sir Henry MacMahon drew the Mcmahon Line, which marked the border between India and China. The McMahon line was not recognised by China, and it was crossed in 1962.
• The border between Canada and the United States is known as the Medicine Line.
• Sir Cyril Radcliffe drew the Radcliffe Line, which delineated the border between India and Pakistan. The Siegfried Line is a fortified line drawn by Germany on its border with France. The Order-Neisse Line is the border between Poland and Germany that runs along the Order and Neisse rivers and was established following World War II at the Poland Conference.
