Introduction:

So many things need to be put in place when carrying out research in social and behavioral sciences. From the outline to the executive summary to other vital parts of the research. Appendices are not the foundation or basis of the research Which means that if the appendix is taken out of the research paper, the reader would still have a thorough knowledge of what was being communicated in the texts. However, the appendix is also important because it opens the reader up to vital information such as; diagrams, tables, results e.t.c. which helps the reader understand better.

• For proper structure. The appendix most times comes after the conclusion in a research paper. The structures would be bridged if everything does not appear when it is meant to.

The meaning of appendices or appendices meaning can be used in different contexts and it can mean different things. However, in this particular context, the appendix is a part of a research paper or material that capitalizes on further explanation and insights into a research problem. Most times, the appendix is very bulky and in this case, very difficult to be included in the main body of the research to aid easy reading.

• The title of the appendix: It can be written in the same font as the main research paper. You can also decide to write the title in capital letters. In a case where there is more than one appendix, a new page should be used for each title.

• The order of the content: This is very important because it could either make the research paper confusing or arranged. Any table or diagram mentioned in the main body of the paper should be replicated accordingly in the appendix on the same page that it was mentioned.

Appendices are very important when it comes to research papers and statistical records. As discussed earlier, it is not the most crucial part of the paper. The research paper would still make sense even if the appendices are not included; however, for more information and knowledge on the text, the appendices are very important. They contain graphs, diagrams, tables, pictures, and results that cannot be included in the main texts. Questionnaires and survey can also be carried out in the appendices and their results can be recorded. It is advisable to use the appendices for more clarity and more references.
