IIT-JEE is a national level joint entrance exam to get admission into bachelor courses in engineering in IITs. JEE Main is the first phase of the entrance test, and only candidates who clear this exam are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. JEE Main is a computer-based exam and comprises two papers. Paper 1 is conducted to admit candidates to undergraduate engineering programs in institutes and universities recognised by the State Government. It also serves as an eligibility test for JEE Advanced. Paper 2A and Paper 2B are conducted to admit candidates to B. Arch and B.Planning courses in India.

JEE Advanced is the second and final phase of the entrance exam. Candidates who clear JEE Main and score high ranks in the merit list can appear for JEE Advanced. It is a computer-based exam conducted by seven different zonal IITs on a rotational basis. The exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2, carried out in two stages, held on the same day. National Testing Agency (NTA) is the exam conducting board for JEE Main. It has released the JEE Main syllabus for all the subjects on the official website.
