it's a good question Vaishali. Ans: Generally it has been misunderstood that the president is directly elected by the people,it's wrong. there is a body created for the election for the president and this body is consist of the persons nominated by the head party ,say for example democratic party and Republican party in case of USA. and people vote for this party not to directly the person who stands for the president's election. the choice of the people in this particular election was Hillary Clinton but the body(which was created only for this purpose) vote to the Donald Trump.I wish u got the answer. As an Educator i m making the video on this soon.and you will get whole process there. i already made some videos on that. you can see that.

it's historical in the sense that nobody out side USA thought ( including you too) that leader like Trump is going to lead most powerful country, but you know well alright... rest is history that's why it's historical so has historical significance, may be bad for someone but certainly good for many... thanks for your 'other facts'...
