THEOLOGY Theology discourse about God, Not a disinterested study participates in the religion it belongs to Not simply concerned with elucidation of concepts in religion, but often has to defend itself against objections & attacks Danger Because of its commitment, it may remain too much tied up with its traditional framework However, they have been changing with change in intellect from age to age (Eg. Hegelians, Existentialists)
THEOLOGY AND PHILOSOPHY -Use philosophical technique for interpreting & defending their beliefs Current philosophy poses difficulty for them, especially Analytic. Analytic: Science subject matter is depersonalized Religious thinking self-involvement, passion & commitment Existentialism Takes individuals in their creative moments, in the hour of crisis Far from physical sciences, but suitable for theology A theologian has to take help of current philosophy to make his religious thinking compatible with maximum segments of life.
