Chief Minister
Punjab is really India’s 20th biggest state in terms of land area. Chandigarh, a National Capital territory, serves as the state capital for Punjab. The Chief Minister is the State’s executive authority. The role of Chief Minister first at the state and local level is equivalent to that of Head Of state at the national level. The Governor will designate the Chief Minister. It does not, but even so, implicate that the commander is free to designate someone else as Chief Minister. As Chief Minister, the governor must nominate the executive of the leading party in the legislature in the state.
The CM can serve in either of the houses of representatives, as stipulated in the Charter of rights and freedoms. Chief Ministers are generally taken from the State Legislature (legislative assembly), although in a few situations, a representative of the Upper Chamber (legislative council) has indeed been assigned as well.

The Punjab Province was domiciled in Lahore, and also the Indian Government Act 1935 established a parliamentary system with a legislative council and a legislative committee, as well as a governing party led under the supervision of the Prime Minister.
Following India’s separation, the Patiala as well as East Punjab States Union (PEPSU) was constituted. It was founded on July 15, 1948, and was legally accepted as a sovereign in 1950. PEPSU was previously led by the Head of state, as well as the CM became the legislature’s chief executive officer in 1952.
The PEPSU was largely combined with East Punjab following the States Reorganisation Act of 1956. East Punjab was established in the year 1947 and re-named Punjab in the year 1950.
