The basic idea which is followed by the different nations is common is the conservation of the wildlife and their habitat for the pride of the nation and posterity.

When the United States had established its very first public park it was made for the enjoyment of the people it was named the Yellowstone National Park in the year 1872, but it was not considered the National Park but was always practiced as such.

First Indian National Park

There are a total of 106 national parks in the Indian region. These 106 national parks cover an area of 44,372.42 kilometers which is around 1.35% Of the total area in the Indian region.

The earliest National Park which was established in India is known as Jim Corbett. This National Park has been in operation since 1936, initially named Haley National Park, because its founders Sir Malcolm decided this name on his surname. In 1956, the name was changed to Jim Corbett National Park. The naturalist Jim Corbett took the initiative to preserve the wildlife of the country. When the park was established, soon after, activities like killing, hunting, capturing mammals, birds, etc were prohibited.

  • Some areas were known to be a part of a state interior Garhwal, after that it was passed to the British, and now it is a major part of Uttarakhand.
  • The government of Uttarakhand governs this National Park.

India’s Largest National Park

The largest National Park of India is known as Hemis National Park, this park is in the state of Jammu Kashmir. The park is also covered with pine forests Meadowlands, it also has a Buddhist monastery, which is around 400 years old lying inside its boundaries, the climate here is very cold and sometimes it also reaches -4 degrees Fahrenheit, in this park, we can find griffon vulture, the park is also famous for the snow leopard, it also has many different species of fox such as snow fox. This park was started in 1981 so that it could protect the Rumbak catchments and Markha catchments. The park is spread over about 600 kilometers in area.
