A garden is defined as a space that is planned and is generally outdoors. Gardens are usually made due to the display and cultivation of plant species, sometimes fountains, and some different forms of nature. Gardens are decorated with trellises, follies, pergolas, and so on. Garden also consists of some water features like ponds – which may contain fish and other water species, fountains, creeks, or waterfalls. Gardens are of various forms like flower gardens, fruit or crop gardens (where food items are produced on a small scale not similar to farms), zoological gardens (where wild animals are displayed), and botanical gardens (where plant species are preserved, cultivated and displayed).
Gardens and Parks in Rajasthan
Rajasthan has a rich heritage in its culture, and customs and mostly in its natural beauties. This state consists of different parks, gardens, zoological parks, etc. Some of the gardens or parks in the front row that enhances the beauty and attract tourist to Rajasthan are as follows –
- Bada Bagh (Jaisalmer) – It is a complex garden that is placed on a small hill approximately 6 km to the north of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
- Daulat Bagh Ajmer Garden (Ajmer) –Daulat Bagh Ajmer Gardenwas made by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the Ajmer city. It is situated in the adjacent part of Anasagar Lake.
- Brahmakumaris Peace Park (Oriya, Mount Abu)–Brahmakumaris Peace Park is not a governmental park but is maintained by the Brahmakumaris foundation it is located at an average distance of 7 km from the guru Shikhar and the distance from Mount Abu is approximately 8 km.
- Pandit Deen Dayal Park (Udaipur) – Pandit Deen Dayal Park is situated in Gangapur City in Rajasthan. The coordinates of Pandit Deen Dayal Park measure 26.46848 latitudinal and 76.72299 longitudinal.
- Desert National Park (Jaisalmer) – Desert National Park is situated near the towns of Barmer and Jaisalmer. It covers almost 3,162 km2 area. This National Park signs as a good example of the Thar Desert’s ecosystem.
- Gulab Bagh (Udaipur) – Gulab Bagh covers an area of 100 acres and is situated on Bapu Bazar Road which is near the Sajan Niwas Bagh.
- Central Park (Jaipur) – Central Park is the largest park in Jaipur, this park is situated in the middle of Jaipur and is built by the Jaipur Development Authority.
- Sisodiya Rani Ka Bagh (Jaipur) – Sisodiya Rani Ka Bagh is located nearly 10 km away from Jaipur on the highway of Jaipur-Agra. It was established by the Maharaja Sawai Jai.
- Umed Garden (Jodhpur) – This garden in Jodhpur was developed under Maharaja Umed Singh. Umed Garden covers an area of 82 acres.
- Company Bagh (Alwar)– By Maharaja Shiv Dan Singhthis garden was built in the year 1868 located in the center of the city Alwar. Company Bagh garden is surrounded by unlimited trees.
- Saheliyon Ki Badi (Udaipur)–It is located in the northern part of Udaipur. Saheliyon Ki Badi was established and developed by Rana Sangram Singh from the year 1710 to 1734.

Dravyavati Botanical Garden
Dravyavati botanical garden is one of the oldest Jaipur Botanical Gardens. In Dravyavati Botanical garden there are 1300 varieties of species that are planted and also in total, there are more than 40,000 plants. This garden covers an area of 2.89 hectares. There are very rare species in this garden and new species of plants are brought here from other cities.
Mayur Vatika
Mayur Vatika also called peacock garden falls under the category of botanical garden located in the city of Jaipur.
