This museum was established in the year 1949, it holds a high range of articles right from the prehistoric times to modern works. The National Museum has two main buildings, the main building and the National Museum Institute. 

The features of the National Museum Delhi are:

  • It has a collection of more than 200,000 works of art, both of Indian and foreign origin, covering over five thousand years.
  • The National Museum houses a library with over ninety thousand volumes of books and periodicals on art, archaeology, history, music, dance, and literature.
  • The museum also has a conservation laboratory and a photo lab.
  • The National Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday and is closed on Mondays.

Government Museum Mathura: The Government Museum, Mathura is a museum located in the city of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The museum was established in 1874 and houses a collection of artefacts from the Mathura region.

Allahabad Museum: The Allahabad Museum is located in the city of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. It was established in 1931 and houses a collection of artefacts from the ancient and mediaeval periods.

Government Museum Chennai: The Government Museum, Chennai is a museum located in the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1851 and houses a collection of artefacts from the Tamil Nadu region.

Salar Jung Museum: The Salar Jung Museum is located in the city of Hyderabad, Telangana. It was established in 1951 and houses a collection of artefacts from the Salar Jung family.

National Gallery of Modern Art: The National Gallery of Modern Art is located in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was established in 1954 and houses a collection of modern and contemporary art.

City Palace, Jaipur: The City Palace is located in the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan. It was built in the 18th century and houses a collection of artefacts from the Rajasthan region.

Victoria Memorial: The Victoria Memorial is located in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal. It was built in the 19th century and houses a collection of artefacts from the British Raj period.

Jaisalmer War Museum: The Jaisalmer War Museum is located in the city of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. It was established in 1999 and houses a collection of artefacts from the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Hazardurai Palace: The Hazardurai Palace is located in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was built in the 18th century and houses a collection of artefacts from the Maratha Empire.

National Rail Museum, New Delhi: The National Rail Museum is located in the city of New Delhi, India. It was established in 1977 and houses a collection of artefacts from the Indian Railways.

Albert Hall Museum: The Albert Hall Museum is located in the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan. It was established in 1887 and houses a collection of artefacts from the Rajasthan region.
