State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur (SBBJ) was a significant Indian bank. It was an auxiliary of the State Bank of India, with which it was merged on 31 March 2017.

Its branch network out of Rajasthan covered all the significant business communities of India. In 1997, the bank entered the capital market with a first sale of stock of 1,360,000 offers at a higher cost than normal of Rs. 440 for each offer. For the years 2015-16 the net benefit of the organization was Rs. 8.5 billion.

STATE BANK OF BIKANER AND JAIPUR(SBBJ)

State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur appeared in 1963 when two banks, to be specific, State Bank of Bikaner (laid out in 1944) and State Bank of Jaipur (laid out in 1943), were blended. The State Bank of Bikaner and The State BBank of Jaipur were completely brought under the control of the State Bank of India (Subsidiary Bank) Act, 1959.

HISTORY OF SBBJ

On 25 April 1966 SBBJ took over Govind Bank (Private) Ltd., Mathura,[6] laid out on 8 February 1963.

In 1984 SBBJ supported and laid out Ganganagar Kshetriya Gramin Bank as a Regional Rural Bank. From there on, in 1985 SBBJ opened the Bikaner Kshetriya Gramin Bank, the second Regional Rural Bank supported by it. The third Regional Rural Bank, supported by SBBJ was Marwar Gramin Bank, which covered the regions of Pali, Jalore and Sirohi. On 12 June 2006, SBBJ consolidated every one of the three local rustic banks that it supported under the name MGB Gramin Bank, with central command in Jodhpur.

The designs to make SBI one of the best 50 banks in India impacted SBBJ without question. In 2016, the arrangement to consolidate SBBJ with its five co-auxiliaries was made, and it was confirmed by the Government of India on 15 February 2017. It, at last, merged with SBI on 31 March 2017.

OBJECTIVES OF SBBJ

The beginning of the State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur traces all the way back to the year 1943-44, when the Bank of Jaipur Ltd. furthermore, the Bank of Bikaner Ltd. appeared. In 1960, the two banks were joined as auxiliaries of the State Bank of India and named State Bank of Bikaner and State Bank of Jaipur.

 On January 1, 1963, the two banks were converged into one substance viz. State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur. The constitution, capital, the executives and different issues relating to the Bank are administered by the arrangements of the SBI (Subsidiary Banks) Act, 1959.

75% of the portions of SBBJ are held by SBI and the excess by organizations and the overall population. The SBBJ took over the  assumed control over the premises of the Govind Bank Pvt. Ltd, Mathura on 25th April 1966. 

SBBJ opened up to the world in the year 1997-98 with an issue of 12.21 lakh portions of 100 each at a higher cost than normal of 440/ -. SBBJ is the main public area that keeps money from settling in Rajasthan.

At the time of joining, the Bank had a business of 45 crores, a net benefit of 7.5 lakh and an organization of 124 branches (96 in Rajasthan). By March 2013 the matter of the Bank expanded to 1,30,590 crore, net benefit remained at 730.24 crores.

The number of branches expanded to 1049 ( 862 in Rajasthan) as of 30.09.2013. 

SBBJ is taking care of other three banks which were private in the beginning and now has become one of the assets of the SBBJ which are the  three Regional Rural Banks.

They were modified into one RRB MGB Gramin Bank in June 2006.

 On 25.02.2013 the MGB Gramin Bank (RRB upheld by SBBJ) and Jaipur Thar Gramin Bank (RRB upheld by UCO Bank) were all completely made as one and only  as the ‘Marudhara Gramin Bank’ upheld by SBBJ with Head office at Jodhpur. Nine areas of the state have been completely sealed by this bank and its branches.
